The Senior Business Analyst is accountable for the analysis, implementation, and ongoing functional support of the AML/ATF Enterprise Solutions Name Screening and Transaction Monitoring programs. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of problems and issues related to these programs, including identifying, analyzing, and resolving the root causes of recurring incidents to support timely resolution, operational efficiency, and minimal impact to business activities.

Responsible for supporting 2nd Line AML/ATF Name Screening Solutions, Global AML/ATF Enterprise Solutions activities related to Name Screening customers against the appropriate lists to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and Scotiabank AML/ATF policy needs.

  • Problem Identification and Classification: Identify and classify problems and issues that impact Name Screening and Transaction Monitoring processes
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations to diagnose complex problems and determine their root causes
  • Resolution Implementation: Coordinate with relevant teams to design and implement solutions that prevent the recurrence of identified problems
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage the lifecycle of problems from detection to resolution, ensuring all activities are documented and tracked
  • Proactive Problem Management: Develop strategies to proactively identify and eliminate potential issues before they escalate
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain accurate records of problem management activities, including metrics for reporting and continuous improvement
  • Projects and Enhancements: Participate in various projects and enhancement initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the name screening and transaction monitoring processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and drive continuous improvement. Identify and document business requirements, ensuring completeness and proper understanding and delivering on expectations
  • Collaboration:
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal key stakeholders including IT departments and assigned LOB within Canadian Banking/ Wealth Management, International Banking and Global Banking & Markets to support the ACRM process in maintaining compliance in jurisdictions of which Scotiabank has a presence
    • Liaise with Technology Support Team to ensure effective systems and technology are in place to support the Name Screening Coverage implementation.
  • Development: Manage personal development to ensure knowledge and skills related to Business Process Design are continually enhanced.
  • Change Management & Release Governance: Manage change readiness, testing, and release governance to ensure system updates are implemented safely and in line with AML controls.
  • Operational Analysis: Perform operational-level analysis for high-complexity files and meta investigations, ensuring timely and complete resolution
  • System Ownership & Vendor Management: Servs as the functional lead and primary liaison with different vendors to manage defects, upgrades, and compliance-aligned vendor delivery.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in AML, having conducted transaction monitoring and name screening reviews
  • Strong understanding/experience of the delivery lifecycle
  • In-depth knowledge of anti-money laundering requirements
  • Well-developed communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders effectively

  • ACAMS Certification is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results within tight timelines
  • Thorough time management skills in order to satisfy the needs of a large client group and to manage several initiatives simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio, as well as knowledge of the Bank's interactive systems
  • Experience using SQL and Power BI are considered an asset
  • Spanish language proficiency is required.
