BAI- Forecasting Senior Manager, Rare Disease

What you will do

The Forecasting team at Amgen plays a pivotal role as a strategic partner to Commercial leadership, offering data-backed insights crucial for driving commercial success. As a Senior Manager of Forecasting, you will contribute significantly to the Rare Disease business, executing and managing discussions with brand leads.

The individual in this role will need to thoughtfully influence and challenge a diverse set of stakeholders from Commercial, R&D, Medical, Finance, Manufacturing, Access, and Pricing/Contracting, while proficiently understanding the nuances of the particular disease area of interest and the market.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Forecasting and operates within the broader framework of Business Analytics & Insights (BAI).

Flexible Commuter role to the Deerfield, IL or Thousand Oaks, CA office.This role will require someone to be in the office Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Responsibilities

Forecast development and management
  • Build and maintain robust forecasting models using advanced techniques (trend analysis, regression, scenario planning)
  • Incorporate internal and external data (sales trends, competitive landscape, market research) to refine forecasts

  • Conduct regular forecast reviews and adjust as needed based on market dynamics, sales performance and strategic changes

Strategic analysis and insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align forecasts with business strategies

  • Provide insights on performance drivers and potential risks and opportunities impacting the forecasts

  • Evaluate and report the impact of market events (competitor launches, regulatory changes) on product performance

Stakeholder communication and collaboration
  • Present forecasts and supporting insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders

  • Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure forecasts align with inventory and operational planning

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on forecast assumptions and methodologies

Data and technology optimization
  • Leverage data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) to communicate insights effectively

  • Utilize forecasting software and statistical tools to improve accuracy and efficiency

  • Continuously explore and implement new data sources and analytical techniques to enhance forecasting processes

Oversight of one contingent worker

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of forecasting, analytics or finance experience

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of forecasting, analytics or finance experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of forecasting, analytics or finance experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of forecasting, analytics or finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of forecasting, analytics or finance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence ED/VP level staff

  • Knowledge and experience working with industry internal and secondary data sources; experience doing analog and uptake curve analysis

  • Proficiency in advanced forecasting techniques, statistical modeling and data analysis

  • Highly skilled in working collaboratively in a team-based environment and gaining alignment across an organization

  • High level of proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Partnership with business leaders to deliver high-quality predictions guiding strategic decision-making

  • Ability to interpret and analyze data trends, identify patterns and make data-driven decisions

  • Experience with Monte Carlo analysis and statistical trending

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
