This is a hybrid role; only local candidates will be considered.

The AWS Cloud Engineer will support the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. This role is responsible for migrating Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), supporting full-load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time streaming data migration architectures. The engineer will design and implement AWS infrastructure and networking components, leverage core AWS services and Infrastructure as Code tools, and lead migration planning, cutover, and rollback strategies. The role also involves scripting and automation, monitoring and logging, and modernizing legacy on-premises systems within hybrid cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Migrates Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
  • Supports full-load, CDC, and real-time streaming data migration architectures.

  • 8 years of experience with core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform).
  • 8 years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects.
  • 8 years of experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

Additional Requirements:

  • Local candidates only; must currently live within 50 miles of the Austin, Texas work location.
  • Services are expected to start 09/01/2026 and are expected to complete by 08/31/2027.
  • Total estimated hours per candidate shall not exceed 2,008 hours.
  • This service may be amended, renewed, and/or extended if both parties agree to do so in writing.


Work Location and Schedule:

Location: 4601 W. Guadalupe, Austin, Texas 78751.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed.

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - On Site and Telework.
