This Position reports to:
Production Manager

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement Manager, the Automation/Robotics Project Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and successfully delivering technical projects in the field of automation and robotics for the Iberville plant (700 Avenue Thomas, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu), supporting the Microlectric, Cable Tray, Super Strut, and Joslyn product lines.

The incumbent contributes to the plant's efficiency and productivity growth objectives through the integration of technologies aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role also helps identify innovative solutions to address challenges related to employee safety and product quality.

This position contributes to ABB Canada's Electrification, Installation Products Division and is based in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineering & Continuous Improvement Manager in developing and deploying the plant's operational technology vision and strategy.
  • Plan, manage, and successfully execute automation and robotics projects.
  • Develop the Iberville Robotics Laboratory and implement test benches aimed at optimizing manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and execute project work plans, budgets, and risk assessments related to your engineering discipline.
  • Collaborate closely with the HSE (Health, Safety & Environment), Quality, and Materials Management departments throughout project execution.
  • Develop leadership and communication skills through regular interaction with unionized production employees.
  • Maintain and enhance internal and external customer satisfaction by providing excellent service throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Support automation and other engineering projects across ELIP division facilities as required.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in automation and/or robotics.
  • Strong project management experience.
  • Results-oriented, with a focus on project deliverables and execution.
  • Ability to engage production employees, colleagues, and management in achieving project objectives.
  • Ability to involve employees in projects and communicate effectively through presentations and stakeholder interactions.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles, processes, techniques, and tools.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and strict adherence to workplace safety standards and procedures.
  • High level of self-motivation, curiosity, and eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies.
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
