Overview

The Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying, designing, developing, implementing, documenting, administering, supporting, and maintaining automation solutions that improve business efficiency, reduce operational costs, strengthen controls, and mitigate risk across the bank. This role works with business units throughout the organization to understand processes, evaluate automation opportunities, gather requirements, and deliver practical, secure, and maintainable solutions.  The Automation Engineer uses platforms and technologies such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop, Python, and Node.js to connect disparate systems, automate manual tasks, and support business process transformation.

 

Responsibilities
  • Meet with business units, process owners, and requestors to evaluate automation opportunities, gather requirements, understand current processes, and define desired outcomes
  • Assess requests for feasibility, complexity, risk, expected value, technical approach, and alignment with bank priorities
  • Proactively identify manual, repetitive, inefficient, high-risk, or error-prone processes that may benefit from automation
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, document, and maintain automation solutions using approved platforms and development practices
  • Build workflows, applications, scripts, robotic process automations, dashboards, forms, and integrations using tools such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop, Python, and other such 4th and 5th generation development tools
  • Integrate systems using appropriate methods such as APIs, web services, file transfers, database connections, email processing, and other approved integration patterns
  • Facilitate design reviews, demos, user acceptance testing, agile working sessions, and regular project status discussions
  • Create and maintain technical, functional, process, testing, support, and operational documentation
  • Administer and support deployed solutions, including troubleshooting, monitoring, enhancements, configuration updates, and issue resolution
  • Collaborate with business, technology, information security, compliance, risk, and audit teams to ensure solutions are secure, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with bank standards
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

For all Senior Automation Engineer

  • Manage, train and mentor share point administrators, automation engineers and contract employees
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Information Technology or AI degree preferred
  • Good knowledge of business process automation, Artificial Intelligence with an emphasis on Neural Network based LLMs, Machine Learning and Agentic AI, workflow design, application development, scripting, and systems integration
  • Good knowledge of automation and development platforms such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop, Python, Node.js and JavaScript to include common libraries such as JQuery, Glide, React, etc.
  • Understanding of integration concepts including REST APIs, web services, JSON, XML, file-based integrations, authentication, and data transformation
  • Ability to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost savings, improved controls, and risk reduction
  • Ability to gather, clarify, document, and validate business and technical requirements
  • Ability to design practical, maintainable solutions that balance business value, technical complexity, security, scalability, and risk
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate in an agile or iterative environment
  • Familiarity with banking operations, financial services, compliance, audit, risk management, information security, testing, deployment, and change management practices preferred

For all Automation Engineer II

  • Minimum of 2 years Automation Engineering experience
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all of the above aspects of automation engineering

For all Senior Automation Engineer

  • Minimum of 5 years of Automation Engineering experience
  • Excellent understanding in all of the above aspects of automation engineering
  • Strong leadership, managerial and motivational skills
