Provide independent, objective assessment and evaluation of the effectiveness of the Global Compliance Function and of internal controls in place to mitigate regulatory risk. Accountable for assisting the VP and Director in the design and execution of the Annual Audit Strategy / Plan and audit programs covering Compliance Functions and Enterprise Compliance, including supporting the VP in developing and executing strategy for the Compliance Centre of Excellence (CoE).

This includes participating in and coordinating audits with Business Line and Country audit teams to ensure appropriate coverage. The incumbent will execute audit engagements and is responsible for assisting with planning and reporting of assigned audits in accordance with department standards.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
Contributing member of the Global Compliance Centre of Excellence:
• Assists in the development of the CoE Program (including Regulatory Compliance Management, Conduct, Sales Practices, Privacy and Consumer Protection) through the roll-out of a global audit program leveraging data analytics and AI-enabled tools (e.g., Copilot, Alteryx) to support a consistent and scalable approach to auditing regulatory compliance risk across the Audit Division.
• Executes audits of the Compliance function to formulate a periodic opinion on the effectiveness of regulatory compliance management, incorporating data-driven insights and automation tools to enhance testing efficiency and coverage.
• Liaises with Country / Business Audit teams to ensure consistency in audit coverage and execution including the use of standardized analytics and technology-enabled methodologies.
• Incorporates the results of audits executed by Business Line / Country audit teams, utilizing data aggregation and visualization tools to ensure comprehensive coverage across RCM pillars.
Supports Compliance Audit Planning and Risk Assessment:
• Assists the Senior Manager in developing and managing the Compliance Audit Plan, leveraging analytics and AI tools to enhance risk identification and prioritization.
• Executes the annual Compliance Plan and updates the Risk Assessment Database, incorporating automated data analysis and trend identification.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance risks and processes, using AI-enabled insights and external intelligence to monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and systemic issues impacting audit planning and reporting.
Executes Compliance Audits and Continuous Monitoring:
• Supports the coverage, execution, and assessment of audits across regulatory compliance, Conduct, Sales Practices, Privacy, and Consumer Protection, integrating data analytics and automation into audit testing.
• Executes the quarterly Continuous Monitoring program, leveraging tools such as Alteryx and Copilot to identify emerging risks, anomalies, and trends.
• Executes audits of the Global Compliance Function, Enterprise Compliance, and special investigations, ensuring planning, execution, and reporting align with timelines and internal audit standards, while embedding technology-enabled efficiencies.
Drives Testing, Automation, and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Executes centralized testing for select regulatory requirements where a standardized, technology-driven approach (e.g., data analytics, automated testing scripts) enhances efficiency and consistency.
• Maintains strong relationships with Global Compliance and Audit teams, promoting adoption of innovative audit techniques and tools.
• Supports the Senior Manager in representing Audit at Compliance and/or Conduct Risk committees, including providing data-driven insights and reporting.
Promotes Strong Risk and Control Culture:
• Pursues effective and efficient operations aligned with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles.
• Ensures the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of controls addressing operational, compliance, AML/ATF, sanctions, and conduct risks, supported by continuous monitoring, automation, and advanced analytics.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? - We would love to work with you if you have:
• 5+ years' experience in Compliance or related field covering Compliance functions e.g., internal audit, consulting regulatory experience, data analytics.
• Strong understanding of data-driven audit methodologies, including experience in interpreting large datasets, applying analytics to compliance testing, and integrating technology into audit planning, execution, and continuous monitoring.
• Demonstrated proficiency in data analytics and AI-enabled audit tools (e.g., Alteryx, Copilot), with the ability to leverage automation, data mining, and visualization techniques to enhance audit effectiveness and risk insights.
• Internal or external audit background. Accounting designations / technical / professional qualifications (CPA, CFA, CIM, etc.) will be an asset
• University degree in business, finance, economics, accountancy or any other relevant area
• Expert knowledge of MS Access, Excel, Visio, Word and Tableau
• Proven track record of training / presenting to large stakeholder groups
• Ability to write clearly and concisely
• Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Thrives in a dynamic team-oriented environment
• Fluency (writing and speaking) in Spanish language would be an asset
