LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of technology solutions supporting the cloud mission and enterprise systems. The position works as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team and assists senior engineers with systems engineering activities across cloud, infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, and enterprise technology environments. The ideal candidate is a motivated systems engineer who can translate technical requirements into practical solutions, troubleshoot complex technical issues, document engineering activities, and work effectively with government stakeholders, architects, developers, cybersecurity professionals, and operations teams.

Job Duties & Responsibilities - Essential Job Functions may include, but are not limited to, the following
  • Support the engineering, integration, implementation, and sustainment of FAA systems and enterprise technology platforms.
  • Assist with developing system architectures, technical designs, engineering documentation, diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Analyze system requirements and assist in translating mission and business needs into technical requirements.
  • Support requirements management, traceability, configuration management, and technical baseline development.
  • Assist senior engineers with the evaluation and integration of hardware, software, network, cloud, and security technologies.
  • Participate in system integration, testing, validation, verification, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Investigate system performance, availability, connectivity, and configuration issues and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical procedures, runbooks, and system documentation.
  • Assist with system monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, and operational support activities.
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and increased system reliability.
  • Support cloud-based infrastructure and enterprise services, including AWS or other approved FAA cloud environments.
  • Assist with infrastructure-as-code, automation, DevOps, and continuous integration/continuous delivery activities where applicable.
  • Support cybersecurity engineering activities, including security configuration, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining security controls in accordance with FAA, federal, and organizational security requirements.
  • Support technical assessments and participate in security, architecture, and engineering reviews.
  • Assist with analyzing system logs, monitoring data, configuration information, and other technical information to identify potential issues.
  • Participate in technical meetings with FAA stakeholders, program managers, system owners, developers, cybersecurity personnel, and infrastructure teams.
  • Prepare technical presentations, status reports, engineering assessments, and briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and configuration records.
  • Follow FAA engineering processes, standards, policies, and applicable federal requirements.
  • Provide technical support to senior systems engineers and participate in cross-functional engineering initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, network engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience analyzing technical requirements and developing engineering solutions.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, network, cloud, or enterprise systems.
  • Understanding systems engineering concepts and the system development lifecycle.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, procedures, and reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate FAA/government security clearance or suitability determination, as required.

  • Travel: 20%
  • Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations.
  • Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
    Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
