Full Job Description
This position is National Remote. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in Minneapolis, Virginia, Maryland, or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office for a minimum of four (4) days per week.

Jobs that support new business sales efforts or account management but are not ultimately responsible for the results. Jobs that manage these employees should also fall under this category. Jobs in this family are typically not in sales bands.

Job Function Description:

  • Manages ongoing contract relationships and service delivery to clients for one or more accounts.
  • Acts as outward-facing, dedicated resource for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact (not call center) and large or complex accounts.
  • Builds relationships with employer/group clients (not individual members) and serves as the primary point of contact for overall and day-to-day service delivery.
  • Represents client internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and address ongoing service needs. This function includes employees who are in dedicated on-site service roles.
  • Jobs in this function may work closely with sales on renewals and upselling, but incumbents do not have specific sales goal accountability or primary responsibility to close sales.
  • Account management jobs focused primarily on relationship and service management belong in this family; jobs with significant sales responsibilities or sales-related incentives (including "OTH" plans) belong in a sales band.


This position is full-time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8am - 5pm local time zone. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime.

We offer weeks of paid training. The hours of training will be based on your schedule or will be discussed on your first day of employment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages Specialty implementation for the least complex Optum Rx clients, e.g., UMR, MedalistRx and some TPA clients
  • Acts as outward-facing resource for multiple assigned accounts with minimal direct client contact (not call center)
  • Builds relationships with clients or internal client representatives (not individual members)
  • Represents client internally and coordinates with other functions to implement client systems, complete projects, and establish service for ongoing operation.
  • May travel to client site or OptumRx service centers to provide consultative services and recommendations (less than 10%)
  • Analyzes reports to determine client trends, recommendations, and implements programs appropriate for the client
  • Works with other departments to develop operational solutions and recommendations
  • May monitor new patient transition to Optum Specialty Pharmacy during first 30 days after Go Live date.
  • Transitions client to account management for ongoing service once implementation is complete
  • Participates in one or more Implementation Improvement teams and may be responsible for improvement project execution

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of Pharmacy Benefit Management or Healthcare Management experience
  • 1+ years working in a client management or client implementation role
  • Advanced beginner knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years Operations or Customer Service experience
  • 1+ years Project Management experience
  • Online reporting database experience
  • Experience presenting to clients

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
