Full Job Description
Maron Marvel seeks a highly qualified associate attorney to join the firm's Pennsylvania litigation practice. Associates will work closely within our litigation teams for national and regional clients to handle litigation in Pennsylvania's federal and state courts. Applicants should have impressive academic credentials and a demonstrated interest in trial practice involving mass tort litigation, product liability, commercial litigation and general liability.

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for an associate attorney to join its Pittsburgh office. Successful candidates will have exceptional research, writing, and litigation skills, and the ability to handle a broad spectrum of civil cases.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a litigation caseload proactively from inception through the summary judgment phase in both Pennsylvania state and federal courts.
  • Handle the intake and evaluation of new general liability and product liability matters.
  • Draft and file answers, pleadings, written discovery, dispositive motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, depositions, and discovery strategy.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal analysis, case evaluations, and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Take and defend depositions of key fact and expert witnesses.
  • Handle all aspects of motions practice, including drafting and arguing dispositive and procedural motions as appropriate.
  • Work closely with portfolio counsel and the Office Managing Partner to develop case strategy and ensure effective case management.
  • Assist national counsel in identifying, working with, and preparing defense experts throughout the litigation process.
  • Prepare regular case updates and communicate with clients as requested.
  • Collaborate closely with paralegals and litigation support staff to ensure efficient and effective case management.
  • Deliver exceptional client service while contributing to the firm's continued client development efforts.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Pennsylvania with successful passage of the Pennsylvania Bar Examination.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of litigation experience, with demonstrated success handling general liability matters; product liability experience is preferred.
  • Proven ability and desire to independently manage a caseload from inception through the summary judgment phase.
  • Strong experience handling pleadings, answers, discovery, depositions, and motions practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal issues and develop effective litigation strategies.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, oral advocacy, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with attorneys, portfolio counsel, clients, experts, and support staff.
  • Verified professional references and recommendations.
  • No disciplinary history, ethics violations, or sanctions from any state bar association.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining the highest standards of professional responsibility.
