Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a diligent, team-oriented Associate to play a key role in all phases of mass tort litigation. This individual will work closely with experienced trial lawyers on high-impact cases that make a meaningful difference in clients' lives. This role offers significant hands-on responsibility, exposure to complex litigation strategy, and the opportunity to contribute to large-scale, coordinated proceedings from early case development through trial. Associates may be based in our Washington, D.C., Coral Gables, Florida, or Chicago office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Evaluate and develop claims on behalf of injured clients, including factual and legal analysis
• Review and synthesize medical records, case files, and investigatory materials
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and legal memoranda
• Manage written discovery and large-scale document review processes
• Take and defend depositions of plaintiffs, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, expectations, and next steps
• Collaborate with co-counsel and national litigation teams in multidistrict and coordinated proceedings
• Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit development, witness outlines, and case strategy
• Attend hearings, court appearances, and trials as needed
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active U.S. bar license in good standing (Illinois, D.C., or Florida preferred, depending on office location)
• 3-5 years of experience in complex litigation
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in mass torts, product liability, or personal injury litigation
• Familiarity with multidistrict litigation (MDL), class actions, or other complex civil litigation
• Experience reviewing and analyzing medical records
• Exposure to expert witness development and coordination
