The base salary will be $82,230 - $117,360 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.
ResponsibilitiesThe Associate Director, Operations & Finance will report to the Director, Sports and Recreation Services and be accountable for supporting for the achievement of the long-range strategic planning, as well as the day-to-day implementation of all operations. Operations, Sports & Recreation facilities and major capital initiatives. The Associate Director is responsible for long-term facility planning, budget oversight, institutional partnerships, and ensuring department facilities and infrastructure align with the strategic priorities of the University and Sports & Recreation. managing financial and human resources, leading and directing the work of others, and providing comprehensive consultation on a variety of administrative processes. Working closely with other members of the department leadership team, the Associate Director will ensure programs and services offered by the Department are contributing to a vibrant student experience and support the success of Sports and Recreation Services.
QualificationsEducation:
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Management/Administration
- CPA Designation, Master's of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
Experience:
- 7 years' administrative experience, managing budgets, human resources and financial experience in a complex office environment
- 5 years' experience supervising staff and projects
- Experience with the implementation of strategic, human resources, and financial plans
- Experience initiating, leading and implementing proactive processes, policies and strategies to facilitate improvement
- Experience in an athletics and recreation program preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of general office procedures, best practices, for assessing, developing and implementing new business processes and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of financial budgeting and principles to develop financial models, forecasts and analysis, of strategic planning processes, Human Resources principles and practices, Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation
- Ability to promote individual growth by encouraging others to learn new skills and develop themselves
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of faculty and staff
- Results-oriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards, while working effectively as a member of the leadership team
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization

- Analytical skills in the areas of financial and business management to draft budget proposals, forecast expenses and monitor relevant accounts
- Advanced computer skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and database expertise (PeopleSoft preferred)
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented with superior multi-tasking skills
- Understanding of privacy regulations and ability to work confidentiality
- Ability to organize and effectively manage financial and human resources needed to achieve results
- Excellent judgement with the ability to make sound assessment of urgency and appropriate consultations for resolution
- Creative problem solving skills, with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of human resource principles, practices and demonstrated ability in human resource planning
- Demonstrated analytical ability with a sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
