Associate Director of Web Services

DIRECT REPORTS: Software Architect(2), Web Designer/Developer(2), Salesforce Developer(2)
EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt, Full-time (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week)
ROLE TYPE/LEVEL: Senior Level

CLIENT/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Executive Director, Inc. (EDI) is a leading association management company servicing 40 national and global medical, health, scientific associations and certifying bodies. EDI's Web Services department works with our teams to design, develop, and maintain client websites and ensure integration with association management systems (AMS).

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Associate Director of Web Services is responsible for guiding and overseeing the day-to-day delivery and project execution of the software development team that supports the operational needs of our clients.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of high-quality, timely web solutions to association clients.
  • Collaborate with department staff on AMS-integrated web platform to provide functionality such as membership application/renewal, event registration, product sales, donations, grant/award applications, and voting.
  • Collaborate with department staff on custom web applications such as membership directories, physician finder tools, job boards, volunteering systems, and recertification systems.
  • Collaborate with department staff on integrations between AMS and external applications, utilizing best practices for security and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues and collaborate with department staff on long-term solutions.
  • Consult and collaborate with department staff, client staff, and external customers, to determine the functional requirements and needs of client projects, including feasibility studies and preparation of project estimates.
  • Manage multiple client projects with varying timelines and priorities.
  • Identify recurring client needs and recommend improvements to the Director of Web Services.
  • Ensure best practices for application security, data protection, and system reliability are maintained.
  • Ensure all systems and integrations comply with relevant data privacy laws.
  • Oversee Google Analytics and Tag Manager accounts, collaborating with staff on report preparation and interpretation.
  • Ensure ADA/WCAG accessibility standards are met.
  • Maintain documentation, version control, and changelogs for all systems managed.
  • Supervise department staff, providing guidance on their projects, and helping to prioritize their workloads.
  • Manage trainings and communications to client staff regarding department capabilities.
  • Manage general administrative aspects of department including time tracking and performance evaluations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with predictive and adaptive project management practices
  • Strong understanding of web development backend processes
  • Strong experience with web development frontend processes, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design concepts
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Understanding of web application security best practices per OWASP resources
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and related best practices
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager
  • Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) concepts
  • Familiarity with relevant data privacy laws
  • Ability to translate business objectives into technical requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated management and people skills
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, as well as independently

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • 4 years web development or technical project management experience
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full-time position located in our office in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
