Position Description:

This position serves as the Lead and Global Process Owner for Lilly's Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) program. The program covers supply chain visibility and event monitoring, supplier or facilities risk identification and escalation, event response management, business continuity management for the supply chain, and end-to-end product-level risk assessments. The role advances the processes, capabilities, and technologies that underpin each of these areas and acts as the expert advisor and program manager for the internal and external groups that operate them.

This position owns the external relationships that keep the program running, including Third Party Software as a Service (SaaS) providers supporting visibility and risk monitoring, all required data sources feeding the platforms, and India-based external support services to operate the program day-to-day. The process owner is also accountable for these vendors' performance, quality, reliability, data integrity, and continuity of these services.

This position reports event risks to the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team (GSC LT) and to a cross-functional group of internal stakeholders. This role leads, governs, and convenes the Supply Chain Risk Management Council with members from Global Logistics, US and International Demand teams, Supply Planning, Data and Analytics, Site/Local teams, Cybersecurity, and other partners to align on emerging risks and recommend mitigations and program priorities to GSC LT. Responsibilities include defining the global business processes, driving improvements, governing execution, and ensuring the supporting tools, capabilities, and processes remain fit for purpose.

Key Objectives / Deliverables:

  • SCRM Council & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Lead the Supply Chain Risk Management Council and coordinate monthly forums or other forms of engagement with Global Logistics, Demand, Supply, Data and Analytics, and Site/Local teams.
    • Represent GSC in Enterprise Risk Management profile updates and the Product Shortage procedure updates.
    • Represent the SCRM Council with GSC Leadership.
    • Aggregate and consolidate mitigations for ongoing reporting.
    • Build and present business cases for recommended mitigations requiring financial investment.


  • Supply Chain Visibility & Event Monitoring:
    • Own the visibility and event-monitoring process; ensure timely detection of disruptions across the supplier base and logistics network.
    • Manage the SaaS platform(s) and underlying data sources that enable visibility; create and hold vendors accountable to SLAs.


  • Event Response Management:
    • Trigger and coordinate the event response process when disruptions occur; report event risks to the Global Supply Chain Leadership Team and cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Drive after-action reviews and feed lessons learned back into the program and broader GSC organization.
    • Implement continuous process improvements.
    • Maintain robust tracking and reporting for key supply chain events.


  • Supplier Risk Identification & Escalation:
    • Lead identification, scoring, and escalation of supplier risks; partner with Manufacturing Procurement and Global Materials Planning on the Supplier of Focus review.
    • Coordinate risk assessments with Global Supply Chain, Procurement Category Owners, and various cross-functional teams.
    • Aggregate and consolidate mitigations for ongoing reporting.


  • Business Continuity Plan Management:
    • Build and maintain Global Supply Chain's network continuity plans through cross-functional collaboration with leadership.
    • Partner with the Business Continuity Steering Team led by Legal Compliance, Integrated Risk Management Office, and Global HSE in testing and audit exercises.
    • Provide guidance to sites on BCP content and structure to drive consistency.


  • End-to-End Product-Level Risk Assessments:
    • Lead end-to-end Product/Molecule Risk Assessments with GSC Consultants.
    • Consolidate results as a primary input into the annual Global Drug Product Shortage Prevention process.


  • External Vendor & Support Services:
    • Manage and/or establish relationships with SaaS providers and the India-based external support services that operate the program; own data source management end-to-end.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Sustainability/Environmental Management or other related positions.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$127,500 - $187,000

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
