What you’ll be doing...

The Associate Director of Community Disaster Resilience is responsible for developing, executing, and scaling the company’s holistic Community Disaster Resilience strategy and program portfolio within the Responsible Business Group. This individual will oversee a comprehensive, national framework designed to help socially vulnerable communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from extreme climate threats and natural disasters. This leader will manage a team of project managers, direct high-impact national non-profit partnerships, and drive cross-functional alignment across Verizon’s business units. You will serve as a strategic architect, thought leader, and coalition builder—ensuring Verizon’s resilience investments deliver measurable societal impact, strengthen communities, and bring long-term enterprise value.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Directing the long-term strategic plan and national vision for Verizon’s Community Disaster Resilience portfolio, establishing frameworks to evaluate performance across preparation, response, and long-term recovery horizons.

  • Directing high-impact, on-the-ground disaster resilience activations across priority markets, translating strategy into visible community presence that showcases Verizon’s local commitment.

  • Leading Verizon’s disaster technology innovation investments, supervising high-profile initiatives—including the Disaster Resilience Accelerator and technology pilots —to demonstrate and scale next-generation climate resilience solutions.

  • Managing the operational strategy and deployment of the fleet of Community Disaster Resilience Connectivity Vans, driving brand visibility during disaster response and supporting business activations with Verizon Frontline and Public Sector teams year-round.

  • Promoting volunteer efforts that empower V-Teamers to support community preparedness and long-term recovery, while managing the deployment of the V-Team Response Corps to deliver critical on-the-ground support when disaster strikes.

  • Directing a multimillion-dollar program budget and portfolio, collaborating across Government Affairs, VCG, Network, and Public Sector teams to maximize enterprise value.

  • Providing strategic direction and leadership for a team of project managers, effectively removing organizational barriers to drive end-to-end programmatic success and long-term sustainability.

  • Engaging routinely with senior leadership to present and discuss critical strategic and operational results and recommendations related to the initiative.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

  • Direct work experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Responsible Business.

  • Demonstrated track record of leading CSR, disaster resilience or emergency management programs including managing program budgets, leading cross-functional project teams, and scaling community-focused portfolios.

  • Proven experience executing complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives with challenging milestones and aggressive targets.

  • Experience building consensus and collaborating across all levels of leadership and enterprise business units.

  • Proficiency in all Google Drive applications, with an ability to create visually compelling content that communicates complicated information in an engaging way. 

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent Verizon in high-stakes meetings, public events, and media forums.

  • Familiarity with climate adaptation trends, emergency management frameworks, and emerging disaster technologies (IoT sensors, AI applications, and mission-critical connectivity).

  • Proven ability to translate complex social impact goals into measurable, data-driven business outcomes.

Where you’ll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

For part-timers, your coverage will vary as you may be eligible for some of these benefits depending on your individual circumstances.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.

The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $103,000.00 - $198,000.00.

The annual salary range for the New York location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $113,500.00 - $198,000.00.
