What you’ll be doing…As the Associate Director of AI Skills for America, you will launch and lead Verizon’s newest initiative within the Responsible Business Group, designed to bridge the digital divide through national AI readiness, upskilling, and workforce development. Positioned at the intersection of social impact and emerging technology, you will own the long-term strategic vision, operational execution, and scalable growth of this priority program. This leader will manage a team of project managers, driving cross-functional alignment across Verizon’s business units while forging public-private partnerships nationwide. You will serve as a strategic architect, thought leader, and coalition builder—ensuring Verizon’s AI investments deliver measurable societal impact, strengthen communities, and bring long-term enterprise value.
Responsibilities will include:
Directing the long-term vision, execution, and scaling of the AI Workforce Development portfolio, while overseeing a multimillion-dollar program budget, operational execution, governance, and multi-stakeholder partner management.
Embedding Verizon’s Responsible Business pillars into broader business unit operations across VCG and VBG, fostering shared ownership, co-creating new initiatives, and mobilizing employee volunteerism.
Architecting multi-sector coalitions and public-private partnerships across corporations, community colleges, civil society organizations, and government officials to accelerate AI readiness in underserved communities.
Partnering closely with Corporate Affairs, Network, State Government Affairs, and HR teams to ensure AI workforce initiatives deliver integrated, long-term enterprise value.
Evolving Verizon’s thought leadership platform around AI upskilling and Responsible Business, identifying high-impact external platforms and forums to amplify our brand and impact in collaboration with Corporate Affairs.
Collaborating with Business Intelligence and CMI teams to build robust quantitative and qualitative measurement frameworks, tracking KPIs, societal ROI, and programmatic effectiveness.
Providing strategic direction and leadership for a team of project managers, effectively removing organizational barriers to drive end-to-end programmatic success and long-term sustainability.
Engaging routinely with senior leadership to present and discuss critical strategic and operational results and recommendations related to the initiative.
What we’re looking for...You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Direct work experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Responsible Business.
Demonstrated track record of leading CSR, workforce development, or AI readiness programs—managing program budgets, leading cross-functional project teams, and scaling community-focused portfolios
Proven experience executing complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives with challenging milestones and aggressive targets.
Experience building consensus and collaborating across all levels of leadership and enterprise business units.
Proficiency in all Google Drive applications, with an ability to create visually compelling content that communicates complicated information in an engaging way.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent Verizon in high-stakes meetings, public events, and media forums.
Familiarity with emerging technology trends, specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on the future of work and labor markets.
Proven ability to translate complex social impact goals into measurable, data-driven business outcomes.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $103,000.00 - $198,000.00.
The annual salary range for the New York location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $113,500.00 - $198,000.00.
