The successful candidate will partner closely with business, product, operations, compliance, and risk management stakeholders to help strengthen the overall risk and control environment. This individual will contribute to the execution of the business unit's risk management framework, ensuring risks are proactively identified, appropriately assessed, and effectively controlled in alignment with regulatory expectations and organizational risk appetite.

This offers an excellent opportunity to develop a deep understanding of wholesale lending, investment banking, and transaction banking products while gaining exposure to enterprise-wide risk governance, regulatory change management, control effectiveness, and emerging risk monitoring. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the execution and ongoing enhancement of the product risk management framework across wholesale lending, investment banking, and transaction banking businesses.
  • Partner with product teams and control partners to identify, assess, document, and monitor key operational risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive risk documentation, including process maps, risk and control inventories, assessments, procedures, and governance materials.
  • Utilize reporting tools, dashboards, and data analytics to produce meaningful risk insights, monitor trends, and provide timely reporting to business leaders and senior management.
  • Support risk assessment activities, including Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), issue management, and control testing initiatives.
  • Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs), control metrics, and emerging risk trends to identify potential areas of concern and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Build subject matter expertise across covered banking products to better understand associated risk exposures and support informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including Compliance, Legal, Operational Risk, Audit, Technology, and Operations teams, to strengthen the overall control environment.
  • Support management presentations and governance forums through the preparation of risk reporting, analysis, and executive-level materials.
  • Participate in regulatory, audit, and internal review activities by providing risk documentation, analysis, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Contribute to strategic risk and control initiatives aimed at enhancing governance, streamlining processes, and improving risk transparency across the organization.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and evolving risk management methodologies to support continuous improvement within the Business Unit Risk & Control function.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in risk management, operational risk, controls, audit, compliance, corporate banking, investment banking, or a related financial services function.
  • Foundational understanding of banking products, operational risk frameworks, and control management principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting or data visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with RCSA, control testing and issue management, a plus
