Skillset / Experience: Litigation Associate Attorney Boutique firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing practice representing contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout Texas, California, Louisiana, and Kansas. This role is responsible for managing construction-related litigation matters, drafting and reviewing legal documents, advising clients on construction law issues, and representing clients throughout all phases of litigation.
Construction law experience is not required; the firm will train the right candidate. Key Responsibilities - Communicate with clients and maintain strong client relationships.
- Develop legal strategies and assist supervising attorneys with case management.
- Research legal issues related to construction law, lien law, and contract interpretation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, discovery, and other litigation documents.
- Review and draft construction contracts, subcontract agreements, change orders, and related documents.
- Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines, including Mechanic's & Materialman's (M&M) lien filing requirements.
- Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials as needed.
- Prepare for case strategy meetings and provide analysis regarding case strengths, weaknesses, deadlines, and litigation strategy.
- Stay current on legal developments and complete required CLE requirements.
- Manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality legal work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law and membership in the State Bar of Texas.
- 3-7 years of attorney experience
- Multi-state licensure or willingness to obtain additional licensure is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
- Knowledge of construction industry contracts, AIA documents, payment applications, and Mechanic's & Materialman's (M&M) lien law is highly preferred.
