Job Summary
We're seeking an Associate Compliance Manager to join our team! This role is responsible for the collection and analysis of product data and documentation with a proactive approach to assessing risk. The Associate Compliance Manager will document and maintain compliance procedures and protocols; conduct research as necessary (including applicable safety standards, law and regulations). The Associate Compliance Manager will also be responsible for various reporting needs of the department. The Associate Compliance Manager will work collaboratively in a small team of compliance professionals and will interface with many internal teams, vendors and outside parties.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assist Director with all proprietary and third-party recalls.
• Monitor the CPSC site weekly for product recalls. Initiate investigations for products Company sells that may be listed on the site.
• Assist Director with Proposition 65 and similar claims, including data management, communication, documentation, follow-up, and disposition of inventory in store and distribution centers.
• Monitor, record and track customer reported product compliance incidents until completion with the customer service team.
• Manage e-waste compliance for electronic devices, working with outside consultants as necessary.
• Monitor and manage updates to laws affecting retail store and café operations by jurisdiction. Keep trackers updated and provide guidance to Store Operations.
• Process payment of all invoices that are sent to Compliance department.
• Assist with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) projects by collaborating with cross-functional teams on data collection and reporting and creating EPR processes and procedures, working with outside consultants as necessary.
• Assist Director to conduct risk assessment of domestically supplied merchandise, prioritizing products subject to regulatory requirements.
• Assist Director to conduct assessment of safety test and pre-shipment inspection reports for direct imports and proprietary items for specific product categories; communicate corrective actions to vendors and internal stakeholders. Review reporting from labs. Must have experience reviewing test reports generated by accredited third party laboratories.
• CPSC eFiling - Work with compliance team and business partners to ensure that all products requiring a CPC/GCC are setup in the Company CPSC product registry account. Set-up trade parties as necessary. Pull weekly CPSC file, review and send to freight forwarder and Company imports team.
• Build and maintain vendor relationships, responding promptly to inquiries regarding testing, factory and vendor compliance.
• Assist with internal training and outreach sessions with Merchants and other departments.
• Conduct research into other laws and regulations affecting Company as they arise.
Position Requirements:
• Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal effectiveness. Success in this role requires the ability to establish credibility quickly, foster collaboration and communicate effectively. Excellent organizational skills related to data management, document storage and retrieval, project ownership, and time management.
• Strong research, data mining, reporting, and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient in MS Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, and Outlook).
• Must be proactive, a team player, a self-starter, and flexible.
• Prior experience with recalls of proprietary products preferred.
Position Qualifications:
• Minimum: Bachelor's Degree
• 2 to 5 years' experience working on compliance-related projects, monitoring performance, and analyzing results in a retail or supplier organization.
• Prior work experience working for a retailer is preferred but not required.
An employee in this position can expect a starting rate of between $90,000 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience, seniority, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law.
