Assistant Project Manager

Location: Lodi, CA (On-Site)

Position Overview

Roebbelen Contracting is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of public-sector and educational construction projects throughout Northern California.

This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project requirements.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting commercial, public-sector, or educational construction projects and is looking to continue growing their project management career within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

Project Administration & Coordination
  • Assist in managing all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Maintain project documentation, correspondence, logs, reports, and project records
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and project communications
  • Track project milestones, action items, and deliverables

Owner, Architect & Contractor Coordination
  • Serve as a point of coordination between project stakeholders, including owners, client representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Support communication and issue resolution to keep projects moving forward
  • Participate in owner, architect, contractor (OAC) meetings, site walks, and project status meetings

Cost & Schedule Management
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, project cost tracking, and monthly reporting
  • Support project scheduling efforts and monitor project progress against key milestones
  • Review subcontractor proposals and pricing
  • Prepare and process change orders, potential change orders, and related documentation

Field Operations Support
  • Partner closely with field leadership to support project execution
  • Monitor project logistics, manpower planning, material procurement, and coordination efforts
  • Support implementation of site safety requirements and company safety standards
  • Develop an understanding of self-perform operations, productivity tracking, and construction means and methods

Project Closeout
  • Coordinate project closeout activities including punch lists, warranties, as-builts, training documentation, and turnover requirements
  • Ensure all closeout documentation is complete and submitted in accordance with project requirements


What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of construction project management, project engineering, or assistant project management experience
  • Experience supporting commercial, public works, educational, municipal, or DSA projects preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and project documentation
  • Understanding of project controls, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, and cost management principles
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software
  • Ability to build strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and project teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with California public works projects
  • Familiarity with DSA processes, documentation, and compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting K-12, higher education, or other public-sector construction projects
  • Understanding of CUPCCAA, DIR compliance, certified payroll, and public contracting requirements
