The James M. Hull College of Business at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in the intersection of economics and finance.

The Hull College of Business is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research connect economic theory, financial markets, public policy, and business decision-making. Potential areas of specialization may include financial economics, macroeconomics, banking, investments, corporate finance, risk management, or financial literacy. Candidates should be prepared to deliver courses online, as hybrid online/face-to-face, and face-to-face across multiple campuses. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction, maintain an active and productive research agenda, advise and mentor students, and engage in meaningful service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in economics and finance, such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, economics of financial literacy, corporate finance, financial markets and institutions (money and banking), and courses in our certified financial planner program.

Maintain an active program of scholarly research resulting in peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and other professional contributions.

Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and service activities.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the university level. Demonstrated potential for high-quality research and scholarly productivity.

Assistant Professor level:
  • Earned doctorate in economics, finance, financial economics, or a closely related field by the position's start date.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Evidence of, or strong potential for, a productive scholarly research agenda.
  • Ability to teach courses in both economics and finance.

Associate Professor level:
  • Earned doctorate in economics, finance, financial economics, or a closely related field.
  • Record of successful university-level teaching in both economics and finance.
  • Established record of peer-reviewed research and scholarly activity appropriate for appointment at the associate professor rank.
  • Evidence of effective student advising, mentoring, and institutional or professional service.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to program development and academic leadership.
  • Ability to teach courses in both economics and finance.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in multiple formats, including face-to-face, online, hybrid, or accelerated programs.

Professional experience in financial services, consulting, government, public policy, or related industry.

Experience developing relationships with industry partners and creating experiential learning opportunities for students.

Record of obtaining or pursuing external funding.

Relevant professional credentials, such as the CFA, CFP, or FRM designation.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is academic year based and typically works August through May, depending on dates outlined in offer letter and yearly contract.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.

Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
