Job Description

The Cash Asset Class Controller will lead a team of subject matter experts for their asset class, focused on ensuring items are booked in the ledger with best-in-class controls. The team will be responsible for the firm`s balance sheet reconciliation and substantiation activities, data transfer and reconciliation from Risk systems to Finance data authority, including sub-weekly reconciliation of the reporting models to the statement of record, understanding the logic and aggregation for data related to the asset class, attestation to the reporting models as data contributors through to report production for their asset class.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm's books and records, including the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of various asset classes.
  • Responsible for reconciliation and substantiation activities of their asset class
  • Responsible for Data transfer and reconciliation from Risk systems to Finance data authority (e.g., GL, Genesis, MDRMs etc.)
  • Responsible for understanding the logic and aggregation of data related to their asset classes.
  • Responsible for the sub-weekly reconciliation of the reporting models to the statement of record
  • Owns daily netting engines where applicable (FIN39/41, CUSIP), and interaction with legal.
  • Monthly substantiation of the ledger back to the statement of record via the subledger
  • Attestation to the reporting models as data contributors through to report production
  • Oversee the accounting treatment of activity in the Financial Statements
  • Drive and deliver strategic improvements in the reporting processes across their asset class.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders regarding financial matters for the asset class.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks through effective internal controls.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and technologies for the respective asset classes.

  • 10+ years relevant experience including managing teams.
  • Advanced level of accounting knowledge and experience with banking products.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Sound judgment to make decisions based on thoughtful and balanced analysis of highly complex issues.
  • Sense of urgency in implementing processes and controls and evaluating priorities; decisive, action-oriented and practical.
  • Ability to align cross functional teams and resources to drive overall strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities under demanding time frames
  • Flexibility to meet changing work requirements and strict deadlines.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to work across different levels of management and support functions.
  • Ability to develop effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of groups across Citi as well as external auditors and regulators.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.
  • Digital savvy

  • Bachelors/University degree, Master's degree/CFA/CPA preferred, managerial experience.
