POSITION TITLE: Application Analyst

CLASSIFICATION: Classification "V" per Schedule A of the collective agreement

RATE OF PAY: $46.57 / hourly
$7,062.86 / monthly

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology Services

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Application Analyst will provide ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) support for applications. This includes general application advice, service management, release/change management, and support for business intelligence/reports. The Application Analyst primarily supports 3rd party applications and seeks assistance for complex work with the appropriate Programmer, Database Analyst, and/or Business Analyst. This complex work may include troubleshooting data integrations, seeking assistance with advanced BI reports, or coordinating assigned project tasks.

Some of the key job functions include:
• Provide technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and expert guidance for assigned enterprise applications to ensure reliable and effective service delivery.
• Implement and support application releases, system enhancements, and change management activities, ensuring compliance with established procedures and documentation standards.
• Develop and maintain business intelligence reports and dashboards by preparing data and delivering meaningful insights to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain scripts and programs to support application functionality, process automation, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues, implement solutions, and provide specialized technical expertise.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or 2-year College Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent knowledge and experience as deemed by the Department
• Two (2) years' experience supporting enterprise applications, including:
o Fulfilling service requests and resolving incidents using ITSM ticketing systems
o Documenting business processes and related application workflows
o Implementing vendor releases/upgrades (e.g., reviewing release notes, testing changes, and assessing new functionality)
o Configuring changes to application functionality (e.g., introducing new functionality/ modules, changing existing configuration, etc.)
o Creating, updating, and reviewing technical specifications and designs
• Basic proficiency in:
o ITSM (Information Technology Service Management) ticketing software
o Preparing and parsing XML and JSON documents for interaction with Web Service APls
o Programming languages (such as Java, PHP, Python, Kotlin, C#, Go)
o Frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web frameworks (such as Vue.js)
o Developing and maintaining analytical reports for end users (e.g., Bl Publisher, OTBI, Power Bl)
o Structured Query Language (SQL)
o Project Management methodologies (E.g., Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
o Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including teamwork, organization, multitasking, analytical, problem solving and customer service
• Strong written/ oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to stakeholders
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and act with tact and diplomacy
• Ability to learn and adapt to new languages, technologies, tools, and processes
• Knowledge of current IT best practices, technologies, and regulatory/compliance standards
• Evidence of commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in past work contexts and of experience working effectively with diverse student, staff, and faculty population
