Apigee Administrator
Lead II - Software Engineering
UST is searching for a skilled and experienced Apigee Administrator with experience in supporting large scaler enterprise Apigee infrastructure, will be responsible for administering, managing, and optimizing Google's Apigee API Gateway platform, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across the API lifecycle.
The opportunity:
• Administer, configure, and manage Apigee Edge / Apigee X platforms in on-premise, hybrid, or GCP-native environments
• Handle deployment, upgrade, and patching of Apigee components and infrastructure
• Monitor and troubleshoot API performance, latency, errors, and platform availability using Apigee Analytics, Stackdriver, and other observability tools
• Enforce API security policies including OAuth 2.0, API Key Validation, JWT, and thread protection mechanisms
• Manage and configure API products, developer portals, and environmental configurations (test, staging, production)
• Collaborate with API developers to support API proxy design, deployment pipelines, and lifecycle management
• Integrate Apigee with identity providers (IDPs), backend services, and CI/CD pipelines
• Maintain and document configuration standards, policies, and operational runbooks
• Provide support during incidents, system upgrades, and maintenance windows
• Stay current on Apigee product enhancements, GCP updates, and industry best practices in API management

What you need:
• At least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Apigee Edge / Apigee X administration
• Experience working as a senior/lead support engineer in an enterprise environment
• Proven experience managing API gateway platforms in production environments
• Background supporting mission-critical microservices and integration strategies in cloud-native environments
• Technical Skills & Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of API gateway concepts including:
• API proxies
• API products
• Developer apps
• API monetization (optional)
• Deep expertise in API security standards:
• OAuth 2.0
• SAML
• JWT
• mTLS
• Thread protection mechanisms (spike arrest, quota, rate limiting)
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and integration patterns
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages for automation and integration:
• Shell Scripting
• Python
• Node.js
• Hands-on experience with Splunk for monitoring and troubleshooting
• Familiarity with GCP networking, IAM, and monitoring tools:
• Cloud Logging
• Cloud Monitoring
• Stackdriver
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines:
• Jenkins
• GitLab CI
• Cloud Build
• Proficiency with enterprise ticketing tools:
• ServiceNow
• Jira
• Highly Desirable
• Experience migrating Apigee Edge to Apigee X or managing Apigee in hybrid/cloud-native environments
• Experience with Apigee monetization features
• Google Certified Apigee API Engineer certification
• Google Professional Cloud Architect certification
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Remote- US
Compensation Range: $82,000-$123,000

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
