What does a AI Filmmaker do at WPP Production?WPP Production is seeking a highly innovative creative AI Filmmaker / Editor as we revolutionize our content creation team. This role is at the vanguard of the creative process, blending a deep foundation in traditional video editing and filmmaking with cutting-edge expertise in generative AI. You will act as a highly autonomous, trusted, technical, and creative leader, leveraging AI to accelerate, enhance, and transform every stage of post-production.
You will be instrumental in bringing abstract, conceptual ideas to life by rapidly building functional prototypes and generating high-fidelity AI-driven visual narratives, dynamic video sequences, animation components, and polished final cuts. You will operate as the indispensable, highly fluent translator, bridging the traditionally subjective creative department with a highly objective advanced tech forward mindset, enabling seamless integration and groundbreaking, AI-first filmmaking output.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & AI Post-Production Blueprinting: Translate complex creative briefs into comprehensive technical and creative strategies for AI-powered filmmaking and post-production workflows. This includes intelligent asset generation, automated editing assistance, AI-enhanced visual effects, and advanced sound design.
- Rapid Generation & Iteration (AI Video Editing Focus): Act as a rapid generator, leveraging generative AI to quickly create and iterate on video segments, transitions, visual effects, and sound design elements directly within or alongside editing environments. Utilize AI tools for dynamic content generation, scene extension, style transfer, object manipulation, and intelligent re-composition to fuel live testing sprints and accelerate creative exploration. Meticulously manage complex prompt engineering processes for large-scale video and image models, iteratively refining generated outputs based on immediate performance feedback, artistic direction, and brand guidelines.
- Proactive R&D for AI Video & Post-Production: Drive proactive research and development for emerging AI tools specifically designed for automated editing, smart asset search, facial/object replacement, AI-driven color grading, intelligent sound design, and text-to-video generation. Rigorously evaluate how volatile tools can be safely and reliably integrated into real-world commercial video production and post-production workflows without compromising strict corporate brand standards, creative integrity, or triggering copyright violations.
- AI Video Editing Workflow Automation & Blueprinting: Develop and implement AI-driven automation for core video editing tasks such as shot selection, intelligent rough cuts, motion graphics generation, transcription, and compliance checks. Create lightweight digital tools, customized automated templates, and secure platform integrations that seamlessly package highly complex generative capabilities directly within or alongside established NLEs (Non-Linear Editors) to streamline post-production for non-technical Business As Usual team members.
- Mentorship & AI Editing Thought Leadership: Represent the work of multi-disciplined project teams to internal and client audiences, showcasing groundbreaking AI-enhanced filmmaking and post-production capabilities. Provide leadership support by supervising, mentoring, and offering project oversight for less experienced Creative Technologists, particularly in the application of AI to visual storytelling and video editing techniques.
Desired Skills & Experiences:- 5+ years of experience bridging traditional creative production (especially film, video, and animation), digital design, and strict project management methodologies.
- Deep, demonstrable expertise with leading generative AI models (e.g., Diffusion Models, GANs, Large Language Models for visual generation), enabling a leading role in cutting-edge AI filmmaking and image generation projects.
- Advanced technical proficiency in at least one or more of the following areas: Python/APIs for AI model integration, Unreal/Blueprints/UEFN/Verse for virtual production & real-time generative content, Omniverse/Extensions, creative coding for visual effects, interaction design for AI interfaces, and/or world building for AI-driven environments, digital illustration & 3D modelling for AI training/enhancement.
- Proven experience with JSON formatting and crafting highly complex, multi-modal prompts for AIGC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content), specifically focused on the net-new generation of high-fidelity video sequences, animated elements, and complex still images.
- Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and operating agentic workflows to autonomously scale and refine AI-generated creative outputs for film and image production.
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with traditional industry-standard visual effects, animation, and post-production software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Nuke, DaVinci Resolve, Maya, Blender) for necessary light compositing, color correction, and format adaptation of raw AI-generated video and image assets.
- Deep, working understanding of modern copyright law, data and intellectual property usage policies, and accessibility standards as they specifically pertain to AI-generated audiovisual and static visual content.
- Excellent commination skills across creative and production disciplines, with the ability to translate technical realities into language that accurately sets client and creative expectations.
Key Competencies:- Highly Autonomous Leader: Delivering high-quality work with minimal or no senior oversight, effectively collaborating with producers/agencies creatives to plan and scope project deadlines for AI-driven productions.
- Generative Audiovisual & Image Production: Masterful prompt engineering and the ability to steer AI outputs to match precise art direction, brand guidelines, and cinematic storytelling requirements for AI-generated film, video, animation, and image assets.
- Technical & Creative AI Translator: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and/or creative approaches related to AI production to colleagues across various disciplines (creative, project management, account management, resourcing, strategy), understanding the unique needs of each.
- Design-Oriented Systems Thinking for AI Production: A blend of high-end artistic sensibility and deep, programmatic technical curiosity. Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues within complex AI-driven audiovisual and image generation pipelines.
