Agile Transformation Coach

Category: Project Management

Main location: United States, Texas, Dallas

Position ID:J0526-2207

Employment Type: Full Time

Position Description:

We are seeking an experienced Agile Transformation Coach to join a small team working closely with client leadership and delivery teams in advancing enterprise agility. This role focuses on guiding 'team of teams' delivery pipelines, strengthening overall value flow, and enabling sustainable ways of working across teams, programs, and leadership layers.

The Agile Transformation Coach operates as a trusted advisor, systems thinker, and hands-on practitioner-balancing strategy with execution, and coaching with delivery support. Success in this role is measured not by adoption of frameworks, but by improved outcomes: faster flow of value, clearer priorities, healthier teams, and leaders who can sustain agility after the engagement ends. The Agile Transformation Coach is expected to model the behaviors they teach transparency, curiosity, respect for people, and relentless focus on value.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Enterprise & Program-Level Coaching

. Partner with senior leaders, product leaders, and delivery leaders to design and evolve agile operating models across multiple pipelines / Agile Release Trains.
. Coach leaders on lean portfolio management, prioritization, funding models, and decision-making aligned to value delivery.
. Facilitate planning, alignment, and inspection events (e.g., PI Planning or equivalent), ensuring they drive real clarity and commitment rather than ceremony.
. Identify systemic impediments to flow and work with leadership to address structural, policy, and governance constraints.

Team & Team-of-Teams Enablement

. Coach agile teams on effective flow, backlog management, dependency reduction, and continuous improvement.
. Support teams in applying agile principles pragmatically, adapting practices to context rather than enforcing rigid frameworks.
. Observe team dynamics and delivery patterns to identify improvement opportunities in predictability, quality, and collaboration.
. Help teams evolve toward higher levels of autonomy, accountability, and cross-functional capability.

Training & Capability Building

. Design and deliver role-based and situational training for leaders, product managers, Scrum Masters, engineers, and other roles.
. Develop learning paths that blend formal training, on-the-job coaching, and experiential learning.
. Mentor internal coaches, Scrum Masters, and change agents to build lasting client capability.

Transformation Design & Change Leadership

. Co-create transformation roadmaps with client stakeholders that are realistic, incremental, and outcome focused.
. Apply change management and organizational design principles to support adoption and sustainability.
. Use data and qualitative insights to guide transformation decisions and demonstrate progress.
. Balance empathy with challenge-meeting teams where they are while encouraging meaningful change.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. Experience coaching agile transformations at scale, across multiple teams and programs.
. Hands-on experience working with Agile Release Trains, large-scale delivery pipelines, or equivalent multi-team systems.
. Strong understanding of lean flow, systems thinking, and value-stream-oriented delivery.
. Experience coaching and influencing senior leaders and executives.

Core Competencies

. Ability to translate agile and lean principles into practical, context-aware guidance.
. Strong facilitation skills for complex group settings and leadership discussions.
. Comfort navigating ambiguity, resistance, and competing priorities.
. Excellent communication skills-able to adjust messaging for executives, managers, and practitioners.
. Analytical mindset with the ability to use metrics to support learning and improvement (without turning metrics into targets).

Preferred Qualifications

. Experience with multiple scaling approaches (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale, or custom models).
. Background in product management, software delivery, or complex operational environments.
. Prior consulting experience or experience working in client-facing advisory roles.
. Relevant certifications (e.g., SPC, RTE, or equivalent), though practical experience is valued more highly than credentials.
