Purpose of Position
The Advancement Academy Program Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing philanthropic training and professional education programs to enhance private revenue across the 13 UT institutions to support their respective teaching, research, and clinical missions. Through strategic project management, professional development programming, and cross-institutional collaboration, this position strengthens the capabilities of advancement professionals and supports philanthropic success across all UT institutions.

Essential Functions
  • Partner with the Executive Director and UT advancement leaders to identify priorities and develop annual Advancement Academy programming.
  • Plan and execute Advancement Academy programs, managing timelines, budgets, contracts, logistics, registration, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate presenters, vendors, and institutional partners to ensure high-quality program delivery.
  • Promote Academy offerings and serve as the primary liaison to advancement professionals across the UT System.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback and performance metrics, recommending continuous improvements and new educational opportunities.
  • Maintain project plans, documentation, and standard operating procedures to support efficient program management.
  • Foster collaboration and share best practices among advancement professionals across the UT System.
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with broad audiences.
  • Strong understanding of higher education advancement and fundraising.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and sound judgment in planning, prioritizing, and executing projects.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across institutions and departments.
  • Experience planning and managing projects, budgets, meetings, and virtual and in-person programs.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and event registration platforms.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and present data to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in project management, program management, event management, higher education administration, university or hospital advancement, or a related field.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects from planning through execution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit organizations, or philanthropy/advancement operations.
  • Experience with fundraising, alumni relations, donor relations, advancement services, or professional education programs.
  • Experience planning conferences, workshops, or professional development programs.
  • Experience using learning management systems, event registration platforms, or CRM/database systems.
  • PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification is preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration.
