Full Job Description
We are in search of an Accounting Analyst I or Accounting Analyst II to join our Controllers department in Spokane, Washington (Headquarters). This full-time position reports to the VP, Assistant Controller and is responsible for preparing and ensuring high quality accounting and reporting of the organization's financial information including providing technical expertise on complex accounting matters. Compensation Information The base salary range for this position in Spokane, Washington is: Level I: Typical starting range: $66,200 - $88,700 Full base salary range: $66,200 - $99,900 Annual performance-based incentive target is 10% of base. Level II: Typical starting range: $72,600 - $99,900 Full base salary range: $72,600 - $125,200 Annual performance-based incentive target is 12% of base. *Relocation assistance will be provided to eligible candidates who must relocate to accept this position. Essential Duties 37 Ensure accuracy of financial and regulatory reporting by monitoring general ledger activity. 37 Process and analyze general ledger activities; prepare or review journal entries and reconciliations. 37 Develop, enhance, or manage various internal controls reporting requirements. 37 Develop and maintain analytics to ensure accounting and reporting is accurate and timely. 37 Provide technical guidance and research on moderate to complex accounting matters related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory guidance; work with others within the organization, as well as external auditors, to ensure proper accounting and reporting methods are followed. 37 Provide input on existing system functionality and design; serve as a representative on work groups as assigned, which may include serving as the lead in design, testing, and implementation of new processes or systems, software upgrades, and automation projects for the team. 37 Assist in preparing quarterly and annual reports as needed, along with other required regulatory reporting. 37 Take ownership of problem identification and solution implementation. Identify and implement process improvements. 37 Mentor other team members and assist team manager with identification of training needs, communication of conceptual accounting concepts, as well as peer review of workpapers, journal entries, technical accounting memos, and reconciliations. 37 Communicate on behalf of the team with individuals throughout the organization, including executive management. 37 Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, coordinating and managing all phases of the annual audit process. 37 Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls. 37 Other duties as assigned. Travel Requirements 37 AgWest employees may occasionally be asked to travel for all-staff or team meetings not included in the standard travel requirements for the role. Minimum Qualifications 37 Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience 37 Generally, requires three to five years' related experience in a public or corporate accounting environment 37 Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation 37 Experience working with general ledger systems, GAAP research and writing technical accounting memos. 37 Strong organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail 37 Ability to manage multiple tasks and adjust to shifting priorities, while meeting deadlines 37 Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions 37 Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel 37 Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written Preferred Qualifications 37 CPA licensure or candidacy 37 Public accounting experience Workplace Flexibility 37 After an initial in-office training period, this position is eligible for workplace flexibility and a one-time home office stipend. 37 This position is eligible for coordinated hybrid flexibility.
