Full Job Description
What will you do as an Account Manager at Sealed Air?

As an Account Manager - B+ Equipment Automation, you will drive revenue growth across North America by identifying, developing, and closing complex automation and capital equipment opportunities. This is a technical, consultative sales role focused primarily on equipment and automation solutions rather than traditional packaging materials.

You will work directly with customers across manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment, and warehouse environments to understand their operations, identify automation opportunities, and translate operational challenges into practical solutions. You will partner closely with customers, system integrators, distributors, Engineering, Project Management, Service, and other internal technical resources to develop solutions that deliver measurable business value.

This role requires a strong balance of technical credibility and commercial execution. You will manage longer, complex sales cycles and large capital projects, developing business cases, ROI and productivity justifications, proposals, pricing strategies, negotiations, and ultimately driving opportunities through to close.

Why do we need you?
  • Drive new business development across North America by proactively identifying automation and capital equipment opportunities rather than relying primarily on existing accounts or inbound leads.
  • Evaluate customer operations and identify opportunities related to automation, material handling, packaging equipment, labor productivity, throughput, and process efficiency.
  • Develop consultative, value-based solutions by understanding customer processes, business challenges, technical requirements, and desired outcomes.
  • Build and manage complex capital equipment opportunities from initial discovery through solution development, proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Service, system integrators, and other technical resources to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with operations, engineering, procurement, IT/controls, integrators, executives, and other customer stakeholders.
  • Develop ROI, labor savings, productivity, and other financial justifications to demonstrate the value of proposed automation solutions.
  • Manage pricing, profitability, proposals, negotiations, CRM activity, forecasting, and other sales administration activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with system integrators and other strategic partners to create and expand business opportunities.
  • Manage multiple complex opportunities independently while maintaining a disciplined sales plan and focus on profitable growth.

What skills will help you succeed?
  • Proven experience selling complex capital equipment, automation, material handling, packaging equipment, or integrated systems in an industrial environment.
  • Experience working with or closely with system integrators, automation companies, material handling organizations, equipment OEMs, or similar technical organizations.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and system integration concepts, such as conveyors, controls, PLCs, scanners, print-and-apply, robotics, material handling, equipment layouts, throughput, line balancing, and system interfaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to sell solutions and business outcomes rather than simply individual products or equipment.
  • Experience managing longer, complex sales cycles involving multiple technical and business stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen, including experience with proposals, pricing, negotiation, ROI/business cases, and closing significant capital projects.
  • Strong new-business development and prospecting skills, with a track record of creating opportunities and closing business.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate complex concepts into clear business value.
  • Strong curiosity about customer operations and the ability to identify process bottlenecks, labor challenges, and automation opportunities.
  • Self-directed, entrepreneurial, organized, and comfortable managing multiple opportunities across a broad geographic area.
  • Collaborative approach and sound judgment around when to involve Engineering, Project Management, Service, integrators, and other technical resources.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel approximately 50% overnight, primarily in support of active customer opportunities.
