Full Job Description
Why this role is on the menu

We're hiring an Account Manager II to make Instacart Ads the place CPG advertisers and agencies trust to grow their business, by improving campaign performance, widening how brands invest across our ad products, and shaping the advertiser experience. This role sits at the intersection of client strategy and campaign performance, and the person who fills it will have a direct line of sight to advertiser growth and retention. Twelve months from now, the advertisers you partner with should see Instacart as a growth partner whose recommendations they act on.

What you'll cook up in your first year
  • Advertiser Relationships: CPG clients and agency partners treat you as a trusted advisor. Working with Sales, you understand their business objectives and build strategies that support their long-term growth on Instacart.
  • Campaign Performance: Each advertiser has a full-funnel media strategy tied to its goals. You use campaign data and marketplace insights to recommend investment and optimization approaches that measurably improve results, and you manage gap-to-goal across multiple business units.
  • Advertiser Growth: Advertisers adopt your optimization and upsell recommendations and expand their use of Instacart advertising products. You get there by explaining clearly how each product works, building persuasive narratives, and handling objections with confidence across multiple stakeholders.
  • Business Reviews: Recurring client conversations and quarterly business reviews turn campaign data into a clear story of business impact, opportunities, and next steps. You own the vision and content for these reviews, and advertisers leave knowing what to do next. You also resolve campaign and partner issues with limited guidance.
  • Product and Team Influence: Advertiser pain points reach the right internal teams as specific feedback that shapes product enhancements and process improvements. You also share best practices across the category and Advertiser Success teams and lead projects that strengthen team-wide capabilities.

The secret ingredients we're looking for

You are customer-focused and analytical, comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, and energized by a fast-paced role where priorities and solutions keep evolving. You use judgment and initiative to balance immediate client needs against longer-term chances to improve products, processes, and advertiser outcomes, and you are at your best explaining complex campaign data in plain terms.

Must-have pantry staples (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, advertising, commerce, digital marketing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4+ years of experience in account management, digital advertising, paid media, ad operations, ecommerce, client services, or a related field
  • Experience building and maintaining strong client relationships in an external-facing role
  • Experience analyzing campaign or business performance data and turning findings into clear recommendations and client-facing narratives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting confidently to advertisers, agencies, and internal stakeholders

Optional garnishes (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience with Salesforce and Tableau; familiarity with Mode is a plus
  • Knowledge of paid search, display advertising, ad serving, consumer packaged goods, or ecommerce, and experience developing full-funnel media strategies and optimizing campaigns against performance goals
  • Experience managing business reviews, quota-related planning, upsell opportunities, or growth strategies across multiple business units
  • Strong attention to detail and organization, creative problem solving, and experience influencing product or operational improvements by synthesizing customer feedback and business insights

About Instacart

Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. Instacart was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Apoorva Mehta, a former Amazon.com employee. Apoorva was born in India and moved with his family to Canada in 2000. He studied engineering at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2008. He was a participant in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch, which eventually led to the creation of Instacart. In 2013, Mehta was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Apoorva previously worked at BlackBerry, Qualcomm, and then Amazon as a supply chain engineer, where he developed fulfillment systems to move packages from Amazon's warehouses to customers' homes. Before founding Instacart, Apoorva had tried to start at least 20 other services. He tried building an ad network for social gaming companies, and developing a social network specifically for lawyers, among other start-ups. Instacart originally launched in San Francisco. By April 2015, the firm had about 200 employees. It introduced a new policy around June allowing some shoppers to choose to be part-time employees, starting with Chicago and Boston and extending its offer to shoppers in Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C. the following month.
