As a Account Manager, you create chemistry by...- Acting as the face of BASF to assigned refinery clients, building multi-level relationships across operations, technical, procurement, and leadership teams, while developing and executing account strategies focused on growth, retention, and value creation.
- Achieving annual sales targets, margin goals, and market share objectives through contract negotiations, pricing strategy, commercial agreements, accurate sales forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM maintenance.
- Applying knowledge of FCC, hydroprocessing, and refining catalyst technologies to support customer operations through catalyst performance reviews, economic value assessments, technical presentations, and recommendations that translate technical results into economic and operational benefits.
- Overseeing implementation and performance of catalyst programs, including trials, new product introductions, performance tracking and reporting, troubleshooting, optimization, and coordination of internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality execution.
- Leading regular business reviews with customers to review KPIs, performance, and value delivered; align on customer priorities and operational goals; identify risks and growth opportunities; and develop joint continuous improvement plans that strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Working closely with BASF teams including Technical Service/Engineering, Supply Chain, and Marketing & Product Management to coordinate resources and deliver integrated customer-focused solutions.
- Monitoring refinery market trends, customer strategies, and competitive activity to provide insights that support pricing, product positioning, and growth strategy.
If you...- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with Chemical Engineering preferred, or a related field.
- Bring a minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical engineering, preferably within the refinery or chemical industry, with a proven track record managing large accounts and driving business growth.
- Preferred: Have experience within catalysts or related industries to support customer engagement and technical understanding, as well as 3+ years in account management or sales.
- Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of refinery processes.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Have strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to analyze market trends and customer needs, develop strategic sales plans, and manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
- Are proficient with MS Office, CRM software, and other sales management tools.
- Are willing to travel up to 50% for customer meetings and industry events as needed.

Pay transparencyBASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $150000 - $190000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
