Full Job Description
The Position

Genentech, Inc. seeks a Senior Automation Engineer at its South San Francisco, California location.

Duties: Description: Within global pharmaceutical company, act as Technical System Owner (TSO) for a wide range of automation platforms, control systems and system applications such as BAS, PLC, SCADA, data historian and other GMP & non-GMP automation assets. Identify and address customer needs and provide essential system support in a 24x7 environment. Identify and resolve hardware and software application issues. Develop and maintain system documentation such as functional specifications, standard operating procedures, and technical support manuals. Manage and maintain server infrastructure including system patching, upgrade, backup, operating procedures, and system manual. Analyze performance data and alarms, work with end users to resolve issues in a timely manner. Support development of project scope, execution strategy and cost/benefit analysis for all site capital projects. Develop business cases to upgrade and retrofit existing control systems and technologies. Present business cases to internal and external stakeholders, project delivery teams, and senior leadership. Oversee the development and execution of system commissioning and qualification. Lead or support continuous improvements to existing procedures, standards and cross-functional business processes. May telecommute up to 2 days per week.

Education and experience required: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field and 4 years of experience as an Automation Engineer or closely related position.

Special Requirements: Must have minimum of 4 years of experience with each of the following:

1. Designing and developing programable control system hardware and software for semi- and fully- automated manufacturing equipment;

2. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) control system design, programming, testing, and validation;
3.Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and Siemens APACS platforms;
4. Supporting qualification and validation of cGMP equipment, systems, and cleaning and manufacturing processes for life sciences industry; and
5.Developing electrical engineering designs, including panel and control system cabinet layout.

May telecommute up to 2 days per week.

The expected annual salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of South San Francisco California is $186,576 to $213,200 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
