Description:

The client is seeking a 508 Accessibility and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Quality Assurance Engineer to assist in obtaining compliance with Section 508 and WCAG (accessibility) requirements. The 508 Accessibility and WCAG Q&A Engineer will evaluate, recommend, and apply accessibility policies and procedures on products and information technology. Additionally, this person will be responsible for validating the accessibility features enabled on these applications for visually impaired constituents. The 508 Accessibility and WCAG Q&A Engineer will support the development of other project artifacts and documentation such as progress reports, analytics, data collections, schedules, and presentations as necessary.
Provide guidance to personnel responsible for specifications, designs, project implementation and development of technology to ensure compliance with accessibility statues and guidance.
Provide policy and process support to the entire project team to develop, maintain, and improve our compliance with these guidelines.
Investigate/research issues, determine impact, and provide solutions for improving accessibility for compliance. Communicate complex and/or technical information to a broad range of audiences.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work effectively and collaboratively with Web Systems colleagues on assigned projects and activities.
Follow Web Systems Agile SCRUM Methodology, other frameworks, governance processes and best practices.
Maintain professional relationships with customers, management, colleagues and deliver high-quality customer service.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide policy and process support to the entire project team to develop, maintain, and improve accessibility compliance.
Conduct web accessibility testing to include: Semi-automated scans, manual reviews, keyboard only, and screen reader testing
Assess, analyze, and identify areas of concern for accessibility non-compliance of products as well as manage and resolve specific accessibility defects to resolution.
Support the Agile SCRUM team in analysis of business requirements and non-functional requirements to identify user story acceptance test criteria for accessibility compliance.
Develop compliance checklists, plans, and remediation actions as well as provide advice on mitigating or resolving issues. Participate in meetings as required.
Ensure that the Drupal site complies with industry standards and regulations, including accessibility guidelines and security best practices.
Perform testing across multiple versions of Drupal, ensuring robust functionality, performance, and security
Develop and execute test plans and cases tailored to the unique features and modules of each Drupal version.
Perform testing for migration projects from Drupal 10 to 11, ensuring data integrity and functional parity post-migration.
Conduct test in mobile environments using mobile accessibility tools.
Test web products to assess accessibility using a range of screen reader assistive software,e.g. JAWS, NVDA, Voiceover on iPhone, Talkback on Android.
Conduct color sampling and screen reader testing (using JAWS or similar tool).
Identify, record, and help manage accessibility defects to resolution.
Develop and deliver training programs through briefings and reference guides to train internal client staff in accessibility compliance best practices.
Provide status reports and automated compliance reports.
Other project management and contract-related functions as needed.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related discipline, or equivalent related experience.
10+ years in field of Information Technology and software Quality Assurance with a minimum of 4+ years of experience testing Drupal-based websites.
Strong understanding of accessibility (Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2) standards and requirements integration into the product development life cycle.
Strong experience in understanding and using assistive technology tools like screen reader software, screen magnification software, or voice recognition software to verify applications are conformant.
Experience using common accessibility testing tools as well as screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, Talkback and Voiceover
Experience with web and native mobile accessibility
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, iOS, and Android development and accessibility features
Working knowledge of ClickUp and Site improve functionalities
Demonstrable experience developing a compliance capability from no accessibility to strong sustained accessibility built into the process, culture, and products.
Attention to detail with strong knowledge of planning and organizing test plans and test cases.
Working knowledge of testing methodologies, automation tools and best practice
Adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Ability to evolve skill sets and quickly adapt to new technologies and priorities.
Equally comfortable working on a project team as well as independently

Notes:

The contractor personnel will be required to work on-site 40 hours per week. The normal work hours are 9 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with a half hour for lunch. Minor adjustments to the normal schedule may be considered
