Industry icons with billion-dollar net worths rely on exercises and other wellness habits to be highly-functioning individuals. And somehow, they manage to not only succeed, but also to manage to do a lot to manage the stress of running enormous companies and more money than would sustain normal behavior.
Here are some of the practices they’ve used to stay healthy.
Martha Stewart told The New York Times about her wellness habits.
“Exercise is a necessary part of the day. I went to the gym this morning. I have a really great trainer in the city. We’ve worked together for at least eight years. Or I do yoga with James Murphy. I like to spin, but I don’t have enough time to do it. I also have a green juice that I drink every single morning. It’s very important. You can be the most beautiful person on earth, and if you don’t have a fitness or diet routine, you won’t be beautiful,” she told the publication.
After the Microsoft executive left the company in 2008, it was reportedly a common practice for him use the treadmill in his house by Lake Washington while watching the Teaching Company’s “Great Courses” DVDs, when he started viewing the “Big History” DVDs, according to The New York Times Magazine— they later inspired him to bring content to schools through the Big History Project.
Winfrey told People about her fitness efforts last year.
“Sky, mountains, creeks, trees, grass, wildflowers – I just can’t seem to get enough. So I made a vow this summer to log my 10,000 steps each day and get outdoors to do it,” she told the publication.
Trainer Bob Greene also commented on the media mogul’s “boot camp” in O, The Oprah Magazine, back in 2003, saying that she did “forty-five minutes of aerobic exercise, including at least two of the following: power walking on a graded treadmill (up to 10 percent), jogging, elliptical exercise, stair-stepping or rowing,” six mornings weekly as part of her cardiovascular exercise, adding that she did “thirty to 40 minutes of strength training, usually two days in a row, followed by a day off. Oprah preferred to train before her aerobic workout. Her warm-up: a 15-minute power walk,” four or five times weekly as part of strength training, among many other things.
“I just feel so much better all day long if I’ve had eight hours,” he told the publication.
Bezos also told Thrive Global more about his beliefs on sleep.
“Mostly, as any of us go through our lives, we don’t need to maximize the number of decisions we make per day. Making a small number of key decisions well is more important than making a large number of decisions. If you shortchange your sleep, you might get a couple of extra “productive” hours, but that productivity might be an illusion. When you’re talking about decisions and interactions, quality is usually more important than quantity,” he said.
He has also garnered attention lately over the size of his arms.

Arnold Schwarzenegger asked the Facebook executive about his exercise practices during a Townhall Q&A on Facebook in 2015.
“Staying in shape is very important. Doing anything well requires energy, and you just have a lot more energy when you’re fit. I make sure I work out at least three times a week — usually first thing when I wake up. I also try to take my dog running whenever I can, which has the added bonus of being hilarious because that basically like seeing a mop run…” Zuckerberg wrote in the comments section.
