These are the top 50 US cities for job seekers and these companies are hiring

With every new year comes the start of a new chapter. As workers settle into 2020, it’s time to start thinking about where you want your professional career to head in the new decade, like finding a new job. Maybe you’re unhappy with your current work or want something a little better that offers a healthier work-life balance. Or perhaps there’s an itch to do something else, like something new.

If you find yourself in the latter camps, maybe it’s time to start looking for work with a fresh start — somewhere else, like one of these thriving “boomtowns.”

Boomtowns are cities where new residents are calling home due to the abundance of new jobs due to strong economic growth and most of these cities reside in Southern cities across the US.

Finance guidance website SmartAsset analyzed data from 500 of the largest cities in the US across seven metrics including population change, unemployed rate, GDP growth rate, business growth, and housing growth and change in household income. With data also coming from sources like the US Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the study was able to identify multiple cities in Colorado, Texas, and South Carolina as being hotbeds for new work in the new year.

Each of those states had three cities inside the ranking’s top 10 boomtowns nationwide, primarily because of low unemployment rates and a high five-year housing-growth rate. Shockingly, no Midwestern or Northeastern cities found their way into the ranking’s top 50 cities.
