Our staff counsel is currently seeking a Workers Compensation Defense Attorney in Georgia. This is a remote/work-from-home position. This is a full time/exempt role. Position Overview: As a member of our Staff Counsel group, this attorney will be primarily responsible for handling the defense of litigated claims made against companies in connection with workers compensation matters. This attorney will also be responsible for investigation and management of assigned cases from the inception of the lawsuit until conclusion through dismissal, settlement, or trial, and working with adjusters and insureds to resolve claims as expeditiously and efficiently as possible. The Hanover offers flexible work arrangements, and this position may be performed in-office, remotely, or hybrid. Travel and in-person appearances to Court/Boards and depositions are required, as necessary. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 3131Defend employers in connection with workers compensation matters in the State of Georgia.3131 3131Independently conduct depositions, pre-trial discovery, mediations, arbitrations, trials, or any other legal activity required to resolve cases. 3131 3131Daily communications with claim professionals and clients concerning the evaluations of legal files. 3131 3131Provide legal advice to insureds and claim professionals as needed. 3131 3131Negotiate settlements as directed. 3131 3131Attend round tables. 3131 Position Requirements: 3131Attorney must be licensed in Georgia. 3131 31314+ years of workers' compensation defense experience desired. 3131 3131A strong knowledge of current procedural and substantive law, as well as applicable federal, state, and administrative agency rules. 3131 3131Demonstrate an ability to analyze issues, proactively develop effective strategies on pending cases, communicate regularly with claims professionals, document communications, and resolve cases as efficiently and effectively as possible. 3131 3131Solid experience in preparing responsive pleadings, handling appearances, motion practice, depositions, court hearings, settlement conferences and trials, as well as conducting valuation of claims and making recommendations for resolution. 3131 3131Willing to work independently with minimal direction, handle matters efficiently, and be willing to travel as necessary for court hearings, depositions, site inspections, client meetings, and other in-person events. 3131 CAREER DEVELOPMENT: It's not just a job, it's a career, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
