MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Windows OS Engineer supporting CIS, you will engineer, maintain, and secure enterprise Windows server and client operating system platforms across complex, multinetwork environments. You will standardize and optimize OS baselines, implement modern configuration practices, and ensure stable, secure operation of critical infrastructure services. Your work directly enhances system reliability, resilience, and readiness across mission enabling environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineer, build, and maintain Windows server and client operating system baselines, ensuring configurations remain current, compliant, and aligned with enterprise standards
  • Develop, update, and harden OS images, configuration baselines, firmware, drivers, and platform components across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot complex OS level issues involving authentication, Group Policy, networking, hardware dependencies, and multidomain environments
  • Implement OS lifecycle management, including upgrades, template updates, EOL planning, and integration of new versions into production environments
  • Support enterprise authentication, directory, and configuration services such as Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Windows Server roles, and certificate-based authentication mechanisms
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, configuration cut sheets, and engineering artifacts supporting accreditation, change management, and operational use
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, platform owners, automation teams, and operations personnel to ensure secure, performant OS deployments
  • Support integration of Windows OS builds into virtualized and cloud environments, including testing, validation, and dependency mapping
  • Execute OS and security patching to maintain compliance and secure configurations
  • Track, remediate, and report patching and vulnerability gaps across assigned systems

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field, or 10-12+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree

  • CERTIFICATION: Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g. Security+ CE, etc.)

  • ADDITIONAL REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:  Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
  • CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph

  • Hands-on experience engineering and administering Windows Server and Windows client operating systems in enterprise or multinetwork environments
  • Strong proficiency with Active Directory, GPO development and troubleshooting, OS deployment tooling, and automation (PowerShell, scripting)
  • Experience with secure configuration practices, STIG implementation, and OS hardening
  • Familiarity with patch management processes, vulnerability remediation, and configuration compliance auditing
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex OS, authentication, and configuration issues across distributed infrastructure
  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross team collaboration skills
  • US citizenship required

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
