Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Radar Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as a technical authority across a portfolio of advanced radar programs. This role operates at the intersection of systems engineering, architecture, and mission execution-shaping system design, influencing program direction, and ensuring successful transition from development into production and sustainment.

The SME will provide enterprise-level technical leadership, guiding cross-program decisions, advising senior leadership and customers, and driving consistency in system engineering rigor, modeling, and verification strategies.

The ideal candidate is a recognized expert in radar systems with deep experience in system-level design, signal processing, and mission integration, and a demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multidisciplinary teams and customer organizations.

Impact You'll Have:

  • Shape next-generation radar capabilities supporting critical national security missions.
  • Influence system architecture, performance trades, and technical baselines across multiple programs.
  • Drive engineering rigor and digital transformation through MBSE and model-based practices.
  • Enable successful development-to-production transitions, reducing risk and improving execution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to program leadership, chief engineers, and customers.

The Engineering Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the technical authority for radar systems across a portfolio of programs.
  • Lead system-level architecture trades and design decisions.
  • Guide programs through key milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, PRR).
  • Drive cross-program consistency in systems engineering processes.
  • Advise leadership on technical risk and performance.
  • Lead development of radar models and simulations.
  • Shape technology roadmaps and IRAD investments.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate technical depth.
  • Support technical proposals and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate across engineering and production teams.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Short-Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.

Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
