Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Welding Technician will be responsible for installation of welding equipment from a single standalone welder to multiple robotic welding systems.  Successful candidates will possess capability of identifying and making corrections and suggestions to improve overall weld quality as well as have demonstrated experience with good troubleshooting.  Promoting good communication in all departments to ensure a quality product is essential.

PAY RATE: $ 33 to $45 CAD

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering Degree
  • Minimum Two (2) years ‘experience welding environment
  • Knowledge of welding processes, resistance welding and arc welding
  • Experience with welding parameters, robotic welding systems knowledge
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Excel and AutoCAD
  • Ability to work as a team member and individually
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with design house and weld gun manufacturers at initial stages of program
  • Monitor and approve all weld gun designs and transformer sizing with design houses, and order all pertaining equipment.
  • Work with project team to ensure that we have optimal use of weld guns (i.e. max weld pressure achievable at rated speed, proper cooling water flow to system, etc.)
  • Validation of all weld guns once they have been received
  • Weld process validation (i.e. initial weld coupons testing for initial weld schedules)
  • Develop all weld schedules and stepper for all lines for weld controls for start-up
  • Set up of welding on plant floor for initial customer part run and documentation for installation crew
  • Verification of weld quality and set-up of weld stepper programs after line is set up on customer's floor
  • Trouble shooting any weld problem internally or at the customer's facility
  • Train Automation personnel on new equipment or programming
  • Assist in any weld problems that may arise on start-up with Automation Department
  • Assist Management with welding related Engineering Change Notices as necessary
  • Prepare welding documentation to ISO and customer specifications
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner
  • Consult your manager if you are not 100% sure how to perform tasks in a safe manner
  • Follow all safety rules, standards and procedures at all times in all areas
  • Ensure that your work area is kept clean, tidy and organized at all times to prevent accidents and produce quality products
  • Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
  • Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world class quality products are supplied to our customers.
  • Perform other related duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and shop floor environment
  • Overtime hours will be required
  • Day/overnight and/or extended travel required to customers sites
