Full Job Description
Responsibilities*

Design, develop, and maintain web and client/server applications to achieve operational status within agreed-upon time parameters and operating performance. Create and maintain applications that interface with externally provided services (i.e. Qualtrics, Twilio) and support complex survey data collection protocols of academic researchers. Develop and maintain WordPress-based API endpoints for managing and providing research information, publication references, and staff information to institute websites. Develop custom WordPress plug-ins to add API client capabilities and extended functionality to web applications. Integrate report generation capabilities for hosted content and usage statistics into new and existing applications, including visualization and presentation content based on the needs of stakeholders. Ensure applicable data security and ADA accessibility compliance requirements are met during development and remediate existing applications as necessary. Act as a senior consultant for staff with less experience, providing technical advice and consultation on analysis and programming applications. Provide project leadership and coordinate efforts between other technical staff and subject matter experts to produce solutions. Review and evaluate new application development technologies and prepare recommendations based on knowledge of problems and the capabilities of potential approaches. Remote work from home in Michigan permitted up to 80% of week.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science + CSWAE (or similar) application security certification + 4 years of web-based application development experience to include: development and support of survey management systems/processes in an academic research environment, developing WordPress-based API endpoints in an enterprise environment, creating custom plug-ins for WordPress, integrating applications with Qualtrics survey APIs, and developing and remediating applications to meet WCAG accessibility standards.
