The Water/Wastewater Process Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation, planning, design, and construction administration of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities & processes, distribution and collection systems, chemical storage & feed systems, and process mechanical, piping and pumping systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, design, and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facility infrastructure and associated process mechanical systems
- Develop plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for pumping stations, treatment facilities, and related infrastructure
- Perform hydraulic analyses, equipment selection, and system sizing
- Support project development activities including permitting and coordination with regulatory agencies
- Provide construction administration services, including shop drawing review, field observations, and coordination with contractors
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
Required Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in evaluating and designing process piping and process mechanical systems
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid mechanics, and treatment processes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit or other 3D modeling software is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering
- Familiarity and experience with water and wastewater treatment facility processes and design
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the commonwealth of Virginia

The expected compensation range for this position is $90,000.00 - $185,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
