Dewberry is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our growing Water Engineering practice within our New York, NY office. Typical projects involve hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; data analysis, design of water, sewer and stormwater facilities; flood resiliency; ecosystem restoration; green infrastructure; floodplain and drainage studies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering calculations and produce engineering drawings as needed on variety of water resources related projects
  • Conduct business development and project delivery for stormwater and resilience projects
  • Perform field work whenever required
  • Perform Hydraulic & Hydrologic modeling as needed
  • Assist in writing reports, presentations, marketing, business development and other related items
  • Develop design of various stormwater management, ecosystem restoration and flood risk reduction components such as detention systems, channels, tide gates, and others using local, state and federal standards
  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers, Technical Lead, Engineer of Record, Task Manager or Project Manager on variety of water resources projects

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B.S. Degree or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related Engineering field), with emphasis in stormwater conveyance, stream restoration, green infrastructure or water resources
  • 5 - 8 years related experience
  • Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, ArcGIS and computer models such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, Infoworks, MIKE
  • Knowledge of USACE, NYSDEC, FEMA, AWWA standards and procedures for design
  • Prior experience with Infoworks and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is preferred
  • Professional Engineer or ability to obtain Professional Engineering license in 6 months to a year
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe software
  • Clean driving record and valid driving license required

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $100,188 - $128,813 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly. These ranges are for NY only.
