Position Summary
Reporting directly to the President & CEO of Tbaytel, the Vice President - Operations & Outside Plant Engineering (OPE) is a pivotal executive leadership role responsible for strategic direction, executional excellence and efficiency for the Field Operations, Outside Plant Engineering, and Customer Care contact centre divisions.
With a focus on customer experience and service excellence, the VP - Operations & OPE ensures the effective end-to-end delivery and support of Tbaytel's products and services.
Simultaneously, this executive role drives sustainable revenue growth and retention through the dedication to sales excellence and continuous improvement.
Major Responsibilities
Executive Strategy & Organizational Leadership
- As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, co-lead the development of Tbaytel's multi-year strategic and annual plans. Align divisional strategy and execution directly with Tbaytel's long term goals.
- Establish short and long-range objectives (operational, maintenance, and capital) for Field Operations, OPE, and Customer Care. Lead staff to achieve these objectives using sound performance management practices.
- Optimize Field Operations, OPE, and Customer Care team capacity-balancing internal talent and third-party partnerships-to ensure a sustainable, well-balanced structure aligned with Tbaytel's long-term plans and customer experience goals. Partner closely with IBEW leadership, employees, and external partners to keep our teams connected and supported.
- Engage with government officials, contractors, vendors, industry partners, and community leaders regarding planning, partnerships, and legislation.
Operational Excellence & Customer Experience
- Cultivate a customer-first culture focused on service quality, reliability, and responsiveness. Establish KPIs to measure and drive continuous performance improvement.
- Evolve sales capabilities by integrating specialized training, new technology, advanced analytics, and data-driven insights to boost revenue and retention.
- Monitor industry technological and regulatory trends. Drive the adoption of advanced technologies and data insights that balance internal automation with personalized customer service.
Financial Management & Capital Planning
- Direct the preparation and administration of annual operating and capital budgets for Field Operations, OPE, and Customer Care. Apply strict cost controls and process improvements to maximize cost-benefit value.
- Direct rolling multi-year capital plans. Support asset maintenance via rigorous risk assessments and justify expansion investments (e.g., FTTP programs) through sound business cases.
Governance & Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
- Perform other related executive duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- University degree in a technical discipline, business discipline, or a combination of both.
- Minimum five years in executive or senior leadership roles, with a deep understanding of organizational behavior and team development.
- Expertise in managing complex operating and capital budgets, project management, and strategic planning.
- Strong executive presence with proven ability to inspire, lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with process improvement expertise, advanced computer literacy, and articulate written and oral communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of telecommunications equipment, telephone operating procedures, industry/regulatory trends, and customer service metrics.
Conditions of Employment
- Satisfactory criminal records check.
- Competency in and full compliance with supervisor duties under the Federal Occupational Health and Safety Act and Part II of the Canada Labour Code.
