We are seeking a Vice President of Financial and Professional Lines Claims to serve as a strategic partner to our Underwriting division. In this role, you will not just manage files; you will actively "link arms" with underwriters to build, launch, and service a premier suite of primary and excess products. You will act as the face of Mosaic's claims philosophy, articulating our commitment to technical excellence and commercial partnership to customers and brokers.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate directly with Underwriting to develop new product wordings, assess systemic market risks, and refine the company's long-term underwriting strategy.
- Claims Management: Direct and manage high-exposure, complex first-party and third-party financial lines claims across primary and excess layers.
- Exposure Analysis: Evaluate complex coverage, liability, and damages to determine the company's ultimate financial exposure.
- Vendor & Counsel Oversight: Manage external experts and panel counsel, ensuring strict adherence to litigation budgets and strategic defense guidelines.
- Stakeholder Relations: Deliver exceptional customer service to maintain and build longstanding, trusting relationships with insureds, global brokers, and market partners.
- Financial Stewardship: Establish, monitor, and adjust loss reserves within authority limits, ensuring accurate financial reporting to internal stakeholders, reinsurers, and capital partners.
- Dispute Resolution: Attend and lead high-stakes mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as necessary.
Skills, Experience & Education
- Experience: 10+ years of deep technical experience adjusting complex Financial Lines, Management Liability (D&O, E&O), and Professional Liability claims.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or active legal experience is highly preferred.
- Startup Agility: A proven track record of operating successfully in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with a strong willingness to adapt and scale a team from the ground up.
- Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to confidently articulate coverage positions and resolve high-pressure disputes.
- Analytical Mindset: Demonstrated ability to make prompt, intelligent, and defensible decisions based on deep analysis of complex legal and financial data
