Full Job Description
The Role

As VP of Design at Mochi Health, you'll lead the creation of healthcare experiences that feel effortless, trustworthy, and human. You'll build and lead a world-class design team responsible for every patient and provider touchpoint-from our marketplace discovery experience to medication management tools to clinical workflows. This isn't about making healthcare prettier; it's about making it work.

You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical, and Operations to ensure design drives strategy, not just executes it. You'll establish design systems, processes, and culture that scale with our rapid growth while maintaining the quality and craft that earns patient trust in a regulated, high-stakes industry.

This is a leadership role for someone who has built and scaled design teams, shipped products people love, and understands that in healthcare, good design can literally change lives.
What You'll Do

Lead Design Strategy
  • Define and own the design vision across our patient marketplace, provider tools, pharmacy platform, and clinical workflows
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure design has a seat at the table in strategic decisions
  • Build a design culture that balances speed, craft, and patient-centricity
  • Establish design principles and systems that work across our platform

Build and Scale the Team
  • Recruit, hire, and develop a high-performing design team (Product Designers, UX Researchers, Design Systems)
  • Create career frameworks, mentorship programs, and growth paths for designers
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture where designers do their best work
  • Build rituals and processes that allow the team to move fast without breaking things

Drive Product Design Excellence
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap and prioritize initiatives based on user needs
  • Lead end-to-end design processes from research and strategy through execution and iteration while leveraging Ai capabilities to accelerate design engineering
  • Be the subject matter expert on all parts of the product experience inside and out
  • Champion user research and ensure patient and provider voices inform every decision

Establish Design Operations
  • Build and maintain a scalable design system that enables consistency and speed
  • Implement tools, processes, and workflows that let designers focus on solving problems, not navigating bureaucracy
  • Define quality standards and design reviews that maintain craft without slowing velocity
  • Create metrics and frameworks to measure design impact on business outcomes
What You Bring

  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-sided products
  • Strong understanding of modern design and Ai tools (Figma, Claude, prototyping, user testing platforms)
  • Experience shipping products that balance user needs with business constraints

Strategic Thinking
  • Can translate business goals and user needs into clear design strategy and brand vision
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions with incomplete information
  • Data-informed approach to design decisions (qualitative + quantitative)
  • Understands how design impacts metrics like conversion, retention, and patient outcomes

Communication & Collaboration
  • Exceptional communication skills-can articulate design rationale to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to build trust and alignment across Product, Engineering, Comfortable presenting to executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders
