Full Job Description
OVERVIEW

This role owns our multimedia content engine:, creators and talent, producers, editors, and operations across all of the consumer multimedia franchises we run. This is a new role to the company that's essential for where we are going and you will own management, optimization and development of the incredibly talented teams that produce our award winning, audience loved, and industry defining multimedia content.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
  • The MBI multimedia blueprint. Creator and talent strategy, social strategy, and all aspects of our content approach across each of the multimedia franchises we operate. Protecting the current castle and working to build upon it + future proof it as platforms, channels and audiences evolve.
  • Operational optimizations. Spotting where the content or team gets stuck in our processes, diagnosing why and having the experience to know how it can get unstuck. This requires being close enough to the work that you can both see points of friction and have enough context to know how to solve them.
  • The quality and special brew of our content. Standards, accountability, and quality control across every brand under your management and across both editorial and branded content. While ensuring it all fits within the unique tone and perspective of business media that makes MBI special. Your job is to constantly define multimedia content expectations (internally and externally), clearly communicate those standards to all parties and then ensure that there is genuinely understanding and adoption.
  • Creator and talent management. You'll be the day-to-day manager of our MBI talent roster - the people who are the faces of our multimedia franchises to millions of weekly viewers and listeners. This part of the job requires strong existing experience working with and managing talent to maximize their potential, support their creative aspirations and guide them on behalf of the business.
  • Multimedia Distribution. Tight coordination with Account Operations, Audience, and Ad Ops so content reaches the right audiences on the right channels, on both branded and editorial sides. While staying on top of the latest platform level dynamics that could influence our distribution strategies.
  • The content-and-revenue interface. Each multimedia franchise and channel within them is a business: inventory, strategy, optimization, monetization. You must understand the ad products that support your franchises and act as the person who can reliably find a pragmatic balance between creative ideation and monetization. You will be the arbiter on day-to-day debates between what a client wants and what a franchise can credibly deliver. You'll also advocate for your teams who are focused on creating magic on a daily basis, loudly and in the right rooms when necessary.

MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • 10+ years of relevant content execution and leadership experience
  • Proven team-builder and operator - a track record of growing teams from scratch, optimizing them to be more effective, scaling them to meet moments of high demand.
  • Direct experience recruiting, onboarding and managing creators / talent
  • Experimental by design - expects trial and error, comfortable taking calculated risks (based on data and gut), while knowing that not every bet will land but each one will make us better long term.
  • Leadership that takes ownership - decisive, informed and pragmatic in your decisions
  • Advocates for the team - represents direct reports on a daily basis in rooms they are in as well as ones they are not.
  • Trusted cross collaborator - act as a respected, pragmatic peer who can work through complex problems and spirited debates to find the best possible answer to any situation that arises with other leaders within the MBI family.
  • Lives up to our mantra at MBI that we "do what we say we are going to do" on a daily basis with your team, your peers, our audience and our partners.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • The ability to develop and own a clear vision for how MBI brands can continue to evolve - strategic direction-setting that is inspiring to our teams and exciting to our audience
  • Outside perspective and playbooks, matched with an ability to implement them in a way that preserves the unique tone and charm of our content - while growing our content business even further
  • Branded vs. Editorial content fluency - intimate understanding of the nuance between the two, how they speak to each other, how each monetizes, and how to protect the audience from either side
  • Comfortable operating within brand guidelines and acting risk-aware, not risk-averse
  • Deep audience understanding and respect for data in decision making (i.e., audience-led content strategies, not assumption-led).
  • Lives and breathes social - genuinely fluent in social and live formats
  • Proven experience building and scaling YouTube channels
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Morning Brew brand - strong familiarity with MBI and our content ecosystem, not learning it from scratch on the job

COMPENSATION $200,000 - $240,000 DOE *Final offers for this job will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided, commensurate with experience. Total offer package to include benefits highlighted under our perks section below.
