Location Overview 

Cboe HQ is located in the historic Old Post Office district, it’s a landmark that blends classic architecture with modern amenities. The building features expansive spaces with high ceilings and large windows, offering an abundance of natural light and panoramic views of the city skyline and the Chicago River. 

With its prime location in the heart of downtown, the OPO Building provides easy access to major transportation hubs, including Union Station and multiple CTA lines, making it convenient for commuters. The building is home to a variety of amenities, including restaurants, a fitness center, and collaborative workspaces, creating a vibrant and dynamic work environment in one of Chicago's most iconic areas. 

Role Overview

The Vice President, Market Development is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and accelerating Cboe’s next generation of growth opportunities. This role develops market strategies grounded in customer insights, competitive intelligence, and commercial opportunity to shape emerging businesses and expand Cboe’s addressable markets. Working across Product, Business, Sales, Legal, Technology, and Marketing, the Vice President defines customer segmentation, value propositions, market positioning, and commercialization strategies that drive long-term growth.
 

As a newly established function, this leader will build the market development capability from the ground up, influencing enterprise strategy, identifying new opportunities, and partnering across the organization to bring innovative business initiatives to market.

Your responsibilities will be:

Market Intelligence & Strategy  

  • Evaluate emerging market opportunities, customer segments, competitive dynamics, and industry trends to identify opportunities aligned with Cboe’s long-term growth strategy. 

  • Define customer segmentation, value propositions, and market positioning for emerging businesses and new market opportunities. 

  • Assess evolving customer needs, market adoption trends, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decision-making. 

  • Identify new markets, ecosystem opportunities, and commercial growth areas. 

 

Market Development & Commercialization 

  • Identify strategic partnerships, distribution opportunities, and ecosystem relationships that accelerate adoption. 

  • Develop market entry, commercialization, and growth strategies for emerging businesses, including prediction markets, tokenization, digital assets, and future market opportunities. 

  • Identify strategic partnerships, distribution models, and ecosystem relationships that accelerate market adoption. 

  • Develop business cases and strategic recommendations that support investment decisions and long-term growth. 

  • Establish success metrics and evaluate market performance to optimize commercialization strategies. 

 
Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Lead cross-functional market development initiatives across Product, Business, Sales, Legal, Technology, and Marketing. 

  • Influence enterprise strategy through customer insights, market intelligence, and commercial recommendations. 

  • Partner with Institutional Investor Marketing, Retail Investor Marketing, Brand, Digital, Content Strategy, and Communications to ensure integrated go-to-market execution. 

  • Build organizational alignment around strategic growth initiatives. 

 

Innovation & Growth 

  • Champion innovation by identifying new business opportunities that expand Cboe’s addressable markets. 

  • Serve as the strategic marketing lead for emerging business initiatives. 

  • Build scalable frameworks, processes, and best practices that establish the Market Development function and support future growth. 

  • Represent Marketing as a strategic partner in evaluating and shaping Cboe’s future growth opportunities. 

The ideal candidate has:

  • 12+ years of experience in market development, commercial strategy, business strategy, product marketing, consulting, or business development. 

  • Demonstrated experience evaluating market opportunities and successfully commercializing new products, services, or business models. 

  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation, market positioning, competitive analysis, and commercialization strategy. 

  • Passion for financial markets, market structure, innovation, emerging technologies, and identifying new growth opportunities. 

  • Highly strategic, intellectually curious, and entrepreneurial, with the ability to connect market insights to business opportunities. 

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive cross-functional initiatives without direct authority. 

  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and executive presentation skills. 

  • Financial services, exchanges, fintech, digital assets, or capital markets experience strongly preferred. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $-$ per year. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time.


 

Within the range, individual pay is determined by actual work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
