Position Summary

The VP, Equity Asset Management will assume leadership responsibility for oversight, performance, and management of investments in a portfolio of multifamily assets located in multiple West Coast markets. The VP will set strategy for property business plans, guide investment decisions and ensure execution that maximize investment returns. This will include budget reviews and approvals, performance reporting, oversight of major capital renovations, evaluation of rent pricing strategies, and participation in acquisitions, dispositions, and property financings. This position will work collaboratively in a team environment with third parties and all facets of the Company including members of the Portfolio Management, Accounting, Property Management, Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Financing, Valuation, Research, and Legal teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead creation and approval of Property Business Plans and investment strategies to optimize returns
  • Own high-level decision-making on hold/sell analysis, rent strategies, operating budgets, and capital allocations
  • Leverage data to identify performance opportunities to maximize investor returns
  • Oversee major asset events including dispositions, refinancings, restructurings, and high-impact capital programs
  • Provide strategic leadership to acquisitions during due diligence, underwriting, and investment onboarding
  • Review and approve asset valuation models, capital deployment strategies, and long-range financial planning
  • Represent Asset Management in executive-level meetings, investment committees, and strategic planning sessions
  • Develop and mentor Asset Managers and AVPs; ensure high-performing, collaborative team culture
  • Ensure compliance with high-impact agreements, including loan documents, PSAs, JV agreements, and vendor contracts
  • Communicate strategy and performance to executive leadership and investors
  • Conduct property and market visits to validate assumptions and identify strategic opportunities
  • Consistently demonstrate use of tact and discretion

Knowledge/Experience:
  • 10+ years of real estate investment/asset management experience, multifamily strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading asset management teams and managing complex portfolios
  • Advanced analytical skills and financial modeling expertise
  • Strong understanding of accounting, real estate finance, and institutional investment metrics
  • Proven ability to lead value-add strategies and oversee major capital programs
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to present to executives and investors
  • Track record of leadership, team building, and talent development
  • High level of judgment, executive presence, and decision-making authority
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence in high pressure and sensitive situations
  • Ability to see, analyze and understand business dealings in terms of the overall business plan
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and communications of information
  • Demonstrated high level of ethics and integrity with a straightforward and honest approach

Technical/Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area required, MBA is preferred
  • Demonstrated advanced financial modeling and Excel skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to use and learn new technology (e.g., computers/hardware, mobile, software, cloud-based programs)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products
  • Experience with Yardi and/or Argus a plus
