Full Job Description
YOUR IMPACT:

OpenText is seeking a transformational technology executive to serve as Vice President, Global Data Center Portfolio & Transformation.

This leader will be the single accountable executive for the strategy, optimization, and transformation of OpenText's global data center portfolio, leading a multi-year effort to significantly reduce the physical footprint while creating a modern infrastructure foundation for the future.

The mandate includes transforming the current portfolio of approximately 63 data center sites toward a future-state footprint of approximately 10 strategic locations, while determining the optimal placement of workloads across retained facilities, colocation environments, and hyperscale cloud platforms.

The transformation will balance two complementary strategies:
  • Consolidate and modernize approximately 50% of workloads into a smaller, standardized physical estate.
  • Migrate approximately 50% of workloads toward hyperscaler platforms, using rehosting, replatforming, containerization, modernization, or retirement based on workload complexity, criticality, economics, security, regulatory requirements, and change tolerance.

The VP will partner closely with Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Product Engineering, Security, Finance, Procurement, Corporate Development, Facilities, and other executive stakeholders.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:
  • Define and execute OpenText's global data center portfolio strategy, driving consolidation, modernization, site optimization, and cloud adoption across owned, leased, colocation, private cloud, and hyperscale environments.
  • Lead a large-scale infrastructure transformation program, reducing complexity and creating a more standardized, automated, secure, resilient, and cost-effective operating model.
  • Establish workload placement and migration strategies, determining the optimal path for workloads across on-premises, colocation, and cloud platforms through modernization, migration, or retirement.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Product Engineering, and Cloud teams to accelerate hybrid cloud transformation and support OpenText's Cloud and AI strategy.
  • Own global capacity planning and infrastructure investment decisions across facilities, compute, storage, network, power, and cooling while optimizing total cost of ownership.
  • Develop business cases, financial models, and multi-year roadmaps that align infrastructure investments with growth, modernization, M&A activity, and technology lifecycle strategies.
  • Collaborate with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure infrastructure decisions meet security, resilience, privacy, regulatory, and data sovereignty requirements.
  • Support acquisition integrations and divestitures by establishing scalable and repeatable infrastructure integration and separation strategies.Influence executive stakeholders and drive governance, risk management, and performance reporting for one of OpenText's most strategic transformation initiatives.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience across global data center infrastructure, cloud transformation, technology operations, or related enterprise technology environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data center consolidation, modernization, migration, and site-exit programs.
  • Experience managing complex environments spanning data centers, colocation, private cloud, and hyperscale cloud.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including ownership of significant capital and operating budgets.
  • Experience developing and executing multi-year technology transformation strategies with measurable business outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in data center portfolio strategy, hybrid cloud, workload migration, infrastructure architecture, capacity planning, automation, security, resilience, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting M&A infrastructure integration and separation is highly valued.
