Full Job Description
At 10x Genomics, we are building the tools to master biology and advance human health. To fuel this mission, we need a VP, Corporate Controller to lead our global Accounting organization. This leader will view the Accounting function not as a traditional compliance role, but as a critical driver of efficiency and business insight, leveraging technology to build a world-class, automated operation from the ground up.

This leader will oversee critical aspects of the company's global financial operations, including technical accounting, financial compliance, external reporting, and global transaction processing (payroll, GL). You will ensure financial health by bridging rigorous technical accounting with cutting-edge financial technology, transforming the month-end close into a streamlined, optimized process through integrated systems and data integrity.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Audit & Reporting Excellence: Lead the external audit process and SEC reporting, utilizing digital workpapers and collaborative platforms to streamline evidence collection and ensure reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Building a High-Performance Accounting Team: Build and mentor a world-class team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, curiosity, and digital literacy.
  • Architecting the "Continuous Close": Lead the evaluation, implementation, and integration of advanced ERP enhancements and automation tools to significantly reduce manual intervention, accelerate cycle times, and achieve near real-time financial visibility.
  • Accounting Process Engineering: Design and implement lean, scalable workflows across global general ledger functions, payroll, and transaction accounting. Ensure our operational structure scales efficiently to support rapid company growth without linear headcount expansion.
  • Digital Control Environment & Compliance: Transform our compliance framework by shifting the organization from manual, point-in-time testing to automated, continuous monitoring, embedding data integrity and accounting policies directly into our systems.
  • Strategic Data Stewardship: Partner with the CFO and other business leaders to define and automate the tracking of key financial health metrics and actionable insights.

To Be Successful, You Will Need
  • High-Growth Public Company Rigor: 10+ years of progressive experience, including significant time in a leadership role within a high-growth, technology-driven public company (SEC/SOX).
  • Technical Sophistication: CPA or equivalent is highly preferred. Deep proficiency in US GAAP, with the ability to translate complex technical standards into automated system logic for execution. Ability to explain complex technical accounting treatment to business partners in a way that empowers their decision-making.
  • Analytical Depth: Ability to work independently to solve complex structural problems and deliver high-quality results under tight public company timelines.
  • Automation Mindset: A proven, successful track record of migrating complex, manual accounting environments into sleek, automated operational powerhouses.
  • Operational Depth: Experience with global manufacturing and complex supply chains is essential to automate our inventory and revenue recognition (ASC 606) flows. Experience managing international statutory structures is a significant plus.
  • Change Agency: Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders (IT, Operations, Sales) to adopt new tools and maintain disciplined data habits.
  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Foundation: Initial career training at a major public accounting firm.
  • Digital Transformation Leadership: Experience leading a full-scale ERP implementation or a significant finance transformation project.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in an environment where physical products are produced, with depth of knowledge on cost accounting.
  • M&A Accounting Strategy Leadership: ability to ensure that deal structures match our long-term business objectives and that new entities are integrated.
  • Mission Alignment: A genuine passion for advancing human health.
