General Summary of Position
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is independently responsible for the daily operations coordination and growth of the hospital's volunteer services program. This position manages volunteer recruitment onboarding training scheduling compliance engagement and retention efforts while partnering with clinical and operational departments to maximize the impact of volunteers in enhancing the patient and family experience. The Volunteer Services Coordinator serves as a key liaison between volunteers hospital leadership departments and community partners to ensure volunteers are effectively integrated into hospital operations and support organizational priorities related to patient experience and community engagement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding:Coordinate the volunteer recruitment process including application review interviews reference checks background screenings and Occupational Health clearance requirements.
  • Conduct volunteer interviews and assess placement opportunities based on hospital needs volunteer interests and skill sets.
  • Facilitate volunteer orientations training sessions and onboarding activities.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records documentation and compliance requirements within the volunteer management system.
  • Volunteer Program Operations:Coordinate daily volunteer assignments across inpatient units outpatient areas specialty programs and hospital departments.
  • Manage volunteer schedules shift coverage attendance tracking and communication.
  • Serve as the primary resource for volunteers regarding policies procedures expectations and support.
  • Monitor volunteer performance and provide coaching feedback and recognition as needed.
  • Ensure volunteers follow hospital safety confidentiality infection prevention and patient privacy standards.
  • Department Partnership & Program Development:Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to identify opportunities for volunteer support.
  • Develop and implement volunteer programs that enhance patient family and associate experience.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to departments utilizing volunteers.
  • Develops and maintains external professional relationships serving as point of contact with school counselors and community organizations to aid in recruitment of volunteers.
  • Focuses on marketing efforts to include webpage social media printed materials and participation in community events representing the Volunteer Services programs
  • Volunteer Engagement & Retention:Develop strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate volunteer appreciation activities recognition programs and engagement events.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers and promote a culture of service and belonging.
  • Track volunteer participation retention trends and program effectiveness.
  • :Data Management & ReportingPrepare reports and metrics related to volunteer hours productivity retention and program outcomes.
  • Analyze volunteer trends and make recommendations for program improvement.
  • Minimal Qualifications
    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration Human Resources Communications or related field required
    • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration Business Administration Human Resources Communications or related field preferred
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
    Experience
    • 1-2 years Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment. required
    • 1-2 years Experience with volunteer management platforms. preferred
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent communication interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups including healthcare professionals volunteers patients families and community partners.

    This position has a hiring range of

    USD $59,820.00 - USD $101,836.00 /Yr.
